Period when Jacynthe is referred to as the guru of a sect
July 4, 2015: Sunscreen episode
I'm getting hate mail for this https://lepharmachien.com/jacynthe-rene-solaire/ (Okay, there was a mistake in my status: obviously, zinc blocks the sun and therefore no vitamin D... But that wasn't the point. Nor did it deserve the bashing, the hatred, the violence, the contempt that followed.)
I'm getting my first smear campaign. In the media: Jacynthe René is anti-sunscreen (while I mention instead that I like my healthy alternative of shea butter with zinc). Attention: in the Leroux file, the baby incident is referred to as the trigger for all the damage.
A doctor defends me (ah and the Pharmacist apologizes to me via Messenger... but the damage is done and it will continue to do so):
“Dear colleague Mr. Pharmacist,
What do you hope to achieve with your contemptuous, reductionist, and even simplistic attitude, through your excessive popularization of constantly evolving notions in our field of health? Certainly, you have achieved extraordinary mastery of rhetoric and are a good sophist. This is worthy of mention.
I understand that with your scientific magnifying glass and your surgical approach to health, you were able with great ease to deconstruct and, I would even say, discredit the words of a woman who is moving forward on a path that is still little traveled. This path requires open-mindedness, faith, flexibility, and courage. The scientific training from which we both come has its perverse effects. It can, little by little, build blinders that root us in dogmas such as: if you can't measure it, it doesn't exist. In this way, it is with great security that we prescribed Vioxx and Avandia to thousands of patients, thinking we were treating and protecting our patients. Our intentions were benevolent and based on science until this same science proved to us the harmful effects of such medications and we subsequently modified our practice. These blinders and dogmas are also present in alternative approaches or complementary medicines. When we think we have the truth, I think we've already got it all wrong... Scientific studies have their limits, and that's why we turn to experts to try to demystify the nebulous areas of our field. And we know what expert opinions are worth! In fact, after doing my own thinking on the subject, I asked a cosmetic dermatologist about the different ingredients in sunscreens and their effects on health. Do you know what she told me? "I don't know. We don't learn that in our specialty..." If a skin specialist doesn't know the safety of sunscreens, why demonize a non-scientist who is trying, with the resources she has, to promote perhaps safer alternatives? In fact, knowing her, I'm sure she would be very happy to receive the advice of an expert like you to guide her. She is not the guru of a sect but rather a woman passionate about health who wants to do good for her readers/listeners.
I find your position rather easy. It's easy to want to ridicule someone who doesn't have your knowledge and scientific foundations. With the notoriety we have, people listen to us and rely on us to see things more clearly. Political and government authorities are there to guide the population towards safe choices. However, every day new studies are published, with their strengths and weaknesses, and gradually modulate our interventions. Is science always right? No. Are the enthusiasts of complementary medicine always right? No. Besides, I find them courageous to want to help thousands of Quebecers every day in search of a better life and their health. Don't you think that an alliance between these two worlds would finally promote more cordial and respectful exchanges between both parties? Don't you believe that by collaborating with these practitioners from various backgrounds, we would achieve our common objectives which are to inform, preserve health, treat effectively and protect the population?
What I like about Jacynthe is that she encourages people to ask questions. From now on, many will think a little more about their choice of sunscreen, and rightly so.
To emphasize the guru aspect, I am positioned against science
September 15, 2015: Article by Marie-Claude Lortie on the release of my new book Délices Détox . Ms. Lortie asked several doctors, scientists, and nutritionists to comment on certain parts of the recipe book.
In fact, Marie-Claude Lortie sent ONE page from a "book by a star who gives advice on life, nutrition and health" ( https://nutritionnisteurbain.ca/actualite/jacynthe-et-moi/ ) for their comments and titled her article "Jacynthe and the scientists" .
September 21, 2015: News publishes How to Become a Guru
https://lactualite.com/societe/comment-devenir-gourou/
July 8, 2016: Protégez-vous will feature my face on its front page, among other things.
https://www.protegez-vous.ca/sante-et-alimentation/vedettes
November 2016: The Pharmachien announces his series “I will demolish the Jacynthe René of this world” ; he withdraws this advertisement.
Beginning of Jacynthe, the danger
April 11, 2018: serious error by the naturopath – not an employee of Maison Jacynthe – on our page: Louis-Simon Leroux advises a mother to use the rectal bulb syringe for her 3-week-old baby; when I see this recommendation, which I know to be illegal, immoral, unfounded, and meaningless, I contact the baby's mother directly, telling her that the naturopath could not advise her in this way, and accepting my apologies, she reassures me that she did not make the recommendation; I contact Louis-Simon Leroux to tell him that he made a serious error, and the next morning, I address this error publicly.
The Pharmacist reports the error on his page by referring to me (and not to the author of the error) and
- to what my fate should be by insinuating that I deserved prison referring to a Calgary mother imprisoned for 3 years (... to the point where I didn't sleep a few nights having nightmares about the possibility of being handcuffed and separated from my little ones...)
- then he encourages people to denounce not the naturopath but Maison Jacynthe: what Maison Jacynthe is doing is "dangerous" for the public ; a whole second smear campaign begins on all media
- A death threat against me is hanging on his page, left there for all to see: "We should put Jacynthe in a locked chest, throw it in the river and throw the key far away."
Following this event, the Collège des médecins sent a letter to Maison Jacynthe, but for the attention of the Aube clinic and its naturopaths, summoning them to an information session on what could and could not be said. Investigator Legault held the meeting at the Aube clinic, then on St-Laurent Boulevard, and served them with a first warning (not to Maison Jacynthe, which received nothing following this information session: Sylvain was present at the beginning of the meeting.)
June 1, 2018: on a Friday evening at 5:01 p.m., I received a warning from the Order of Chemists: it is our duty to inform you that since your company is not and does not have a member of the Order of Chemists, your company and/or your employees could currently be illegally practicing professional chemistry... The Professional Code provides in Article 188 for this type of offense fines that can vary from at least $5,000 to at most $125,000. To which I replied that MJ did not manufacture – in 2018 – its products (we started in March 2019 with the arrival of Nathalie).
La Presse, July 16, 2018: Maison Jacynthe forced to hire a chemist
https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/201807/16/01-5189646-maison-jacynthe-forcee-dembaucher-un-chimiste.php
And it quickly degenerated in a few hours and in all the media, third media campaign of smear , even popular radio channels: MJ products are dangerous
However, in the summer of 2019: I learned from a biologist that aromatherapy is not chemistry! MJ products do not require the presence of a chemist! I asked the order of chemists, who did not answer me. MJ is suing the Order of Chemists, who are now offering to meet us, not to compensate us. The media campaign that followed this press release had a negative impact as serious as that of the rectal bulb, the two campaigns combined - as a journalist will always point out the above - have devastating results on our reputation.
October 16, 2019: Media learns that the College of Physicians is suing MJ
https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/sante/2019-10-16/la-maison-jacynthe-et-quatre-naturopathes-vises-par-une-poursuite
A fourth media smear campaign begins with this news (the same news will experience another smear campaign at the time of the trial, then another at the time of the verdict, see below – it is clear that one gains media exposure when one prosecutes MJ).
A presenter picks up on the latest headline from the College of Physicians mentioning on the radio that it is still for our non-compliant products (while it has never been a question of non-compliant products ).
A media outlet is broadcasting the news "Jacynthe René prosecuted" when it was actually Maison Jacynthe that received a notice of violation that it is contesting for multiple reasons.
At the end of my tether, once again, I answer this https://maisonjacynthe.ca/fr/blog/mettre-fin-a-labus/
March 6, 2020: Michèle, a subscriber, and while Covid is not yet raging in our country, and it is not what it is today, suggests that I post on our site this article from a so-called scientific journal, at least supported by valid scientific research, an article more on how to support your immune system, which is not stupid on all occasions, I simply thought. https://maisonjacynthe.ca/fr/blog/reponse-a-la-journaliste-de-lactualite/ . It is true that at the end, the author mentions that if we ever caught the virus, essential oils could help. A journalist uses a vicious montage of half-truths with a perverse photo montage to make people believe that I was selling a kit against Covid https://lactualite.com/sante-et-science/maison-jacynthe-fait-la-promotion-de-faux-traitements-contre-le-coronavirus/
The real facts about how and why are reported here: https://maisonjacynthe.ca/fr/blog/le-vrai-du-faux-parce-que-la-verite-est-tellement-moins-dangereuse/
Fifth smear campaign: it only takes a few hours for the media and public figures to pick up the headline without even validating the sources, without even validating the veracity of the story, this time, I exploit people's fear.
On Paul Arcand's show on 98.5 FM, journalist Lise Ravary managed to tarnish our reputation in a matter of seconds: "La Jacynthe didn't understand anything... she's selling essential oils for $154 to combat the virus..." It's all false. This show was my benchmark.
And so on with the Journal de Montréal, de Québec, TVA Nouvelles, the Pharmachien obviously...; until authors, actors, presenters, entrepreneurs take up the fake news and spread it in turn...
None of our clients ever thought I had a cure for the virus, but since Camille's article was published, new clients have been approaching us to get the remedy kit that could cure the coronavirus.
Please note: We are asking for support for businesses during this difficult time.
December 24, 2020: As a kind Christmas gift (and still in a pandemic while we support local businesses), Le Devoir publishes the outcome of its investigation into essential oils written by Stéphanie Vallet, head of the investigation division.
https://www.ledevoir.com/non-classe/589713/un-trio-de-femmes-journalistes-al-enquete
She came to our Maison Jacynthe in Montreal – and 19 other businesses) to get essential oils for Covid. Our advisor Simon told her that we didn't have any oils for Covid. She insisted, distorted what he was saying, and stirred emotion by mentioning that it was for her child, that she was afraid, insisting and not budging to the point where Simon had to end the exchange; I don't call it an investigation, but a trap. However, Stéphanie asks for an interview with me, mentioning that it wasn't to screw us over, since we were correct in our response – alone with one other business out of 20 not to have offered essential oils for Covid; but she won't mention it. Yet, she names the businesses at fault; During the interview, I tell her that, no, essential oils are not a boon for us, that many are adulterated or diluted, and that we certify the purity of ours through a major lab. I also explain the approval process with Health Canada in which MJ invests, obviously requiring scientific references for therapeutic claims and not a "therapeutic connotation" - the investigative journalist cannot even quote me properly; and she has the Pharmachien and another pharmacist say that these approvals mean nothing.

January 21, 2021: The trial of the College of Physicians takes place; obviously, it is discussed in the media
https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2021/01/20/le-college-des-medecins-veut-condamner-jacynthe-rene
January 27, 2021: Julie Snyder's invitation so that I can give my version, I'm told, to talk about my book Breathe Happiness (which I'm asked to send) and the film Growing Up Happy, because Julie is sensitive to the subject of motherhood. Backstage, that same evening, Julie, nervous, said to me "I'm talking to you like a sister, like a friend, say this sentence, it's what will help you: "I learned from my mistakes."". I don't really understand, I even talk to Marco about it, but hey, out of respect for my host, I'll say it. It's live that I realize that someone has reached out to me to trap me, to confront me; and when I say the sentence in question, it's actually to better demolish me. I'm disgusted, not by the confrontation, I'm used to it and I know how to respond obviously, I know our file. I'm disgusted to have been had; what did I expect? From one of our biggest users (made up with only our makeup, in all fairness)? Respect, quite simply. A few days before a trying trial (because I still don't think I've given any reason to believe that I was fit to practice medicine), and also literally overwhelmed by increasingly dirty media campaigns, I was led to believe I was in for a respite.
Who was behind the scenes before I arrived? L'Actualité, Camille Lopez.
Who publicly supports Julie? The Pharmacist.
I reacted like this: "Words fail me. Stunned, stunned, betrayed, humiliated, and even a little discouraged. Having been invited by Julie, I never expected this massacre live. In the pre-interview, it was more about the great success of our company, then motherhood, the book Breathe Happiness and my film Growing Up Happy and even the interest that MJ arouses all over the world. Out of my nest & dressed for the special occasion, because finally I was welcomed to highlight the beautiful, the good, like never before, I was available, open. And that's how I received a first blow, then another, a third and another. Without having time to finish my answers and catch my breath. Stunned, I witnessed a chaotic demolition not revealing truths, but rather what was set up against us. Against me. With a joke for the end. Served by a Julie I thought was a friend, or at least supportive, all made up by Maison Jacynthe, offered free of charge and without credit. I will take the time to talk about it this morning, to offer myself this platform that I was expecting yesterday. " and in video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CKmIkWOjO0U/
March 23, 2021: the judgment of the Trial of the College of Physicians falls, guilty verdict; the judge mentions that "obviously it is not the company Maison Jacynthe in general in its primary mission which is at issue in this case, but rather the two videos" (dating from 2018).
Now a TV channel is positioned in front of our MJ for its news; obviously, Jacynthe and MJ are on all the media, on all the channels (and barely once do we discreetly hear the name of the person concerned). Jacynthe and MJ are portrayed as criminals, but according to the court, there was indeed a violation of the law, a decision that we respect. But at no time does the court refer to Maison Jacynthe in terms of danger, as Pettersen shouts, mixing the miracle pill with the baby's enema in the Covid kit, or completely stupid, as Patrick Lagacé raises in a duet with the journalist Philippe Bonneville, one confusing natural products with homeopathy and claiming that Detox is not scientifically founded (here Patrick dozens of references) and the other laughing "she did not understand her judgment, Jacynthe René" or yes Philippe, certainly better than you, otherwise I have legal advisors to enlighten me. The final blow to this 7th (or 8th?) campaign of bad press, Paul Arcand, who from the top of his microphone, gives his own personal opinion having a doctor friend: beware of Jacynthe. Mr Arcand, benefiting from the platform he has and the reputation he has, did he take the time to read the judgment before making this statement, which is harmful to MJ?
Well.
To cause such an uprising, there must be something...
And to resist it, just as much.
Here are some letters sent to some media figures, here.
