Our new serum found here!

And among its ingredients, we find:

Gotu kola - Centella asiatica

Centella asiatica, also known as gotu kola, is a popular medicinal plant widely used in the Orient to treat infectious skin diseases and accelerate the healing of skin ulcers and wounds. Its active compounds include pentacyclic triterpenes, primarily asiaticoside, madecosside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid. 1

A study investigating the potential application of madecassoside for medical and cosmetic purposes to protect the skin focused on its anti-inflammatory and skin moisturizing activities related to Propionibacterium acnes (bacteria related to acne outbreak), both of which play an important role in skin homeostasis and barrier function. Madecassoside significantly inhibited pro-inflammatory cytokine and showed significant effects on improving skin moisturization as well as hyaluronan secretion in human dermal fibroblasts. 2

Another study addressed the effects of Centella asiatica and its active component, asiatic acid, one of the main active constituents directly associated with its wound healing activity. 3 It is reported to exhibit activity in tissue regeneration, cell migration, and the wound repair process by promoting fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis.

Additionally, one study mentions that its phytocompounds are considered cosmetically beneficial for their anti-aging role, skin hydration, collagen synthesis, UV protection, and scar healing. 4

Researchers conducted a randomized clinical trial on the photoaged skin of 20 female volunteers to study the effects of 5% vitamin C and 0.1% madecassoside (active compound, extracted from Centella asiatica, known to induce collagen expression and/or modulate inflammatory mediators, could thus prevent and correct certain signs of aging) applied topically on the clinical, biophysical and structural properties of the skin. After 6 months of treatment, they observed a significant improvement in the clinical score of wrinkles, suppleness, firmness, roughness and hydration of the skin. Two-thirds of the subjects showed improvement. A network of normally structured elastic fibers was seen to reappear. The results revealed a functional and structural remodeling of the skin that had suffered chronic sun damage. 5

Rosehip - Rosa canina

The use of rosehip oil may date back as far as the ancient Egyptians, and it is still used today for its medicinal and cosmetic properties.

An article reviewed by an Indian doctor 6 explains that it is commonly used to smooth skin. It is composed, among other things, of rosehips, which are packed with vitamin C, an excellent tool for protecting the skin. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant. Rosehips help repair skin after sun damage and can even reverse signs of aging caused by too much sun.

It also contains carotenoids, which help keep skin fresh and healthy, and vitamin F, which helps retain moisture in your skin and protect it from damage.

The retinoids in this oil can help brighten your skin, prevent blackheads, and reduce inflammation.

Research shows that rosehip oil helps reduce the appearance of scars. One study of people treated with rosehip oil after skin surgeries found that the treatment helped reduce scar discoloration and lessen the overall appearance of scars. 7

Magnolia - Michelia alba

Magnolia is a flowering tree best known for its essential oil, which has long been used as a fragrance ingredient for perfumes and beauty products. It has also been used in traditional medicine in Asia for hundreds of years.

A study 8 explains that ultraviolet solar radiation can cause skin photoaging by inducing the secretion of matrix metalloproteinases. It is mentioned that the effects of Michelia alba extract were studied on the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinases in human skin fibroblast cultures after UVB exposure. The results showed that Michelia alba and its hydrolysates inhibited the activities of collagenase and elastase. In addition, Michelia alba exhibited antioxidant activity, a high content of hyaluronic acid. The results imply that Michelia alba is an effective agent against UVB-induced photodamage. Michelia alba could restore total collagen synthesis reduced by UVB.

Silver fir - Abies alba

Silver fir oil (pectinate) is known for its purifying, tonic, and calming properties. It has antiradicular activity, so it helps protect the skin from free radicals. It gives off an invigorating and fresh scent. 9

Frankincense - Boswellia carterii

Frankincense has many benefits, including the ability to strengthen the skin and improve its tone, elasticity, defense mechanisms against bacteria or blemishes, and appearance as someone ages. 10 Additionally, it is reported to be an effective topical agent for softening facial wrinkles and relaxing the skin. It can help tone and lift the skin, reduce the appearance of scars and acne, and heal wounds. It may also be beneficial for fading stretch marks, surgical scars, or marks associated with pregnancy, and for healing dry or cracked skin. 11 According to a study published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine, frankincense oil reduces skin redness and irritation, while producing a more even skin tone. 12

Zanthoxylum - Zanthoxylum armatum

A mini-review of recent studies examined essential oils that can be used to increase skin penetration in transdermal applications and the possible mechanisms of their effects. They increase skin penetration by interacting with the stratum corneum. Among them, zanthoxylum is believed to possess this property. 13,14,15 This oil, with a slightly peppery and refreshing odor, is both calming and tonic.

Rose - Rosa damascena

Its floral, fruity, rosy and tangy fragrance is totally seductive, and without forgetting that its properties are as exceptional as its smell! Soothing, aphrodisiac, healing, firming, regenerating, revitalizing, tonic etc. 16

In a study conducted on ten essential oils regarding their activities against Propionibacterium acnes and certain cancer cells PC-3, A-549 and MCF-7, it was reported, among others, that rose essential oil showed the best antibacterial activities against P. acnes. 17
