Cedarwood essential oil, an asset for beautiful hair

L'huile essentielle de cèdre, un atout pour la beauté des cheveux

The essential oil of the Atlas cedar , this beautiful tree with a proud appearance and a sweet, woody scent, has many properties, one of which is worth highlighting: it helps combat hair loss.

This is what is indicated in a randomized controlled trial (1), carried out in double blind. Eighty-six patients divided into two groups participated. Each member of the first group had to massage themselves, every day, with essential oils (thyme, rosemary, lavender and cedarwood ), with jojoba and seed oils serving as a carrier. While the members of the second group had to use only the carrier oils in massage, also every day.

With a duration of 7 months and a follow-up at 3 and 7 months; it was found after 7 months that 19 (44%) of the 43 patients in the active group (with he) showed an improvement compared to 6 (15%) of the 41 patients in the control group (without he). The degree of improvement in the photographic evaluation was significant (photographs evaluated by 2 dermatologists.

In this same study reported in Jama Dermatology (2), it is explained in a little more detail: the oils had to be massaged into the scalp for at least 2 minutes. A hot towel was then wrapped around the head to facilitate the absorption of the oils. The patients were asked to use this technique every evening.

The essential oil blend used is also detailed: Thyme vulgaris (2 drops, 88 mg), Lavandula agustifolia (3 drops, 108 mg), Rosmarinus officinalis (3 drops, 114 mg) and Cedrus atlantica (2 drops, 94 mg). These oils were blended into a carrier oil, which was a combination of jojoba, 3 ml, and grapeseed, 20 ml.

Trial Conclusion: The results demonstrated that aromatherapy is a safe and effective treatment for alopecia areata. Treatment with these essential oils was significantly more effective than treatment with the carrier oil alone.

Marie-Christine & Marie-Ève shared their hair tips with these products and much more!

Marie-Christine : The Silky and Natural Repairing Balm for Hair are ultra-effective and contain wonderful ingredients for beautiful hair. To extend the life of these products or simply to replace them when my little pots are finished, I use Moringa virgin vegetable oil ($13.50 for 30 ml). In the palm of my hand, I add a drop of Atlas Cedar essential oil ($6.50 for 5 ml) and massage this mixture into the base of my head. I also apply it to the lengths and ends of my hair. I then cleanse my hair. Apricot kernel virgin vegetable oil, even less expensive ($6.00 for 30 ml), is also an oil that I like to use before shampooing. As a bonus, these two virgin vegetable oils are also suitable and wonderful for the face!

For those who have the Natural Hair Repair Balm , take the opportunity to finish with a nail and cuticle massage after applying it to your hair. Your fingertips will especially appreciate the lemon it contains!

Here is a summary of Marie-Ève's hair care : She uses Nature shampoo , which she puts in different MJ bottles that she collects to make her mixtures. Her recipe: she puts 10 drops of basil and 10 drops of lemongrass for 100 ml of shampoo. She loves the virtues of basil and lemongrass for hair; she finds them perfect for her oily hair. She tells us that lemongrass is very useful for dandruff and that she uses basil for hair loss. In fact, her ancestors had a recipe for basil; they boiled it and used it to rinse their hair. She mentions that basil controls the sebum in the hair and gives it volume. She also indicates that it removes the yellow from blonde hair. She loves that her hair is soft and voluminous. "It smells so good!" She receives nothing but compliments. She calls it her magic potion!
