The winter beauty ritual
What does our skin need in winter?
In winter, the skin suffers so much from the cold, but not only from the cold because outside, there is a thermal shock; because the difference between inside and outside, when we talk about -10 and + 20, we end up with a difference of 30 degrees. Poor skin, it suffers! So, you really have to pamper it.
To pamper your skin in winter, you need butters and you also need water, because water, once again, communicates it. So if you think you have very dry skin and you only put butters on without moisturizing your skin, the skin will sag because it's the opposite; butters have a tendency to be occlusive, which is the goal to protect the skin.
This occlusion will be lightened by water to allow absorption and when we do our ritual, morning & evening, it is important to use floral water and gels that we will use before the serum and before the butters.
This is very important because it is really the marriage between water and oils that will allow absorption and then you apply your butter or your mousseline as a finishing treatment.
For the colder seasons in Quebec, when skin tends to be a little more dehydrated and dry, I recommend using finishing care butters. Why?
Because butters contain vegetable waxes which will leave a film on the surface of the skin and prevent this dehydration by the cold and it can also by the heat finally.
So the protocol is to be done twice a day. This is important because in winter, the skin suffers whether we like it or not, from the heat of the heating which dehydrates and from the cold when we go outside which freezes the skin, which crystallizes it.
Adapt your skincare protocol according to your skin condition. I recommend doing this twice a day.
When we make an emulsion, we allow better descaling because the water and oils mixed together will form an emulsion which will capture, absorb the secretions maintained by the cold which create blackheads, small subcutaneous pimples; by saturating the skin and working it, we can feel the pimples; the dryness, we feel it with our fingertips and with the floral water, we form this emulsion which will mix with the amalgams. We can massage for a good 30 seconds.
Why can't we combine gels, oils and waters in one product?
Because if all of this were in a single product, and to put it on a shelf, it would be necessary to add preservatives, and that is the problem: to put ourselves on the same level as traditional cosmetics with products that can be toxic, reactive, allergic. From the moment we start to insert long-lasting preservatives, we find ourselves with enemies, whereas with Maison Jacynthe products, you will always have high-performance products. You have to adapt them, mix them at the same time to maintain their freshness, their integrity, their purity & their quality.
Cleansing oil is suitable for all skin types, except for reactive skin or skin with health problems that would cause reactions to essential oils. In this case, you should opt for jojoba. So the cleansing oil, on the one hand, by its composition of jojoba & apricot oils as well as its aromatic composition, such as geranium which is excellent for unclogging, for piercing small amalgams because it is a solvent that will liquefy the seborrheic secretions retained by the cold. Tendency to make small pimples caused by the cold, it is really the cleansing oil which will be excellent but mixed with a little floral water to restore hydration.
You need to saturate the skin, so your skin will be shiny. Saturating means that it will really fill all the gaps, then you will apply a little floral water or spray it.
When you emulsify, a scenic and physical phenomenon occurs; you will create a relationship between the oil and the water that you have just applied and also with all the secretions that will come out because water is the communicator. Then you will be able to gently unclog all the corneocytes, dead cells, small pimples, blackheads thanks to the essential oils that are in the cleansing oil. Once this is done, you rinse with water. If you remove your makeup, you do it and start again.
In winter, it's important to pamper your skin. Once you've cleansed and rinsed, you'll start another protocol, this time with the gel. You'll do more than saturate, more than cleanse; you'll start hydrating by soaking: cleansing oil, gel, and you'll form a mayonnaise to apply to the face; you'll feel the skin soften, become more elastic, and it will continue to detoxify.
In winter, the skin is like leather, it needs to be softened, smoothed, and worked to make it receptive again. Aloe gel + cleansing oil, mix. You spray the floral water and apply the mixture. You choose your floral water; you can go for a more softening effect with chamomile floral water. You soak this mixture all over your face and then remove the excess. You can do it dry or with floral water, if you can tolerate tap water, you can do it or with spring water. It is very important to know the sensitivity of your skin. Afterwards, you will feel a plumping-revitalizing effect (the skin has retained some of the applied ingredients).
To maintain this plumping effect, you need to lock in this hydration and seal it in with oils and serums.
The choice of gels is adapted according to your skin condition and your goals. So to lock in hydration, you need a gel. The skin sweats and perspires. You need to retain its moisture. To retain it, apply the floral water and then the gel of your choice (a tiny pinhead). Then, you immediately apply your daytime skincare: the serum (adapted to your condition) because its absorption is maximum.
Then you seal your treatment either with a muslin, a butter, the moisturizer or with glycerin.
Butters are sealants that contain waxes that prevent the skin from dehydrating. Apply in the morning. But if your skin is very dry, you can apply the butter in the evening; it is advisable to warm it well in your hands, because when you warm it it is as if you activate it (collagen action), and you apply it by massaging your face with your full hands, at least 30 seconds to be sure that it is well applied. When you are finished, you look at your skin; it should not be shiny, it should be elastic, comfortable, clear, fresh. If it is not, you have put too much, it does not matter; you take your floral water and you dilute slightly and you continue massaging. You have to take the time because in winter the skin needs this attention.
The energy (heat) you have in your hands will really stabilize your skin and allow it to withstand the harsh weather outside. Never forget the paradox between the warmth inside the house and the extreme cold outside. It's important to think about this and take care when you're getting ready to leave or before your makeup. Your skin will be completely plumped up. You will be fulfilled.
