This Ayurvedic resin, myrrh (commonly called Guggul) acts at the very heart of the cell, thus carrying its purifying action throughout the organism. 1
A little history... 2
Since ancient times, Myrrh resin has been used to treat pain, skin infections, inflammatory diseases, diarrhea and periodontal disease.
It was one of the three gifts brought by the Magi to the baby Jesus (gold, frankincense, and myrrh). In ancient Egypt, it was used for embalming. Myrrh, a gum resin from the myrrh tree, has been used since ancient times (it is found in Assyrian texts from 1700 BC) and is currently experiencing a revival of interest.
Here are some of the virtues that have made it a remedy inscribed in myths:
  • Skin conditions: superficial wounds, abscesses, scaly skin, eczema, bedsores, difficult healing.
  • Myrrh essential oil contains up to 90% sesquiterpenes (a molecular group with sedative, soothing, anti-inflammatory, healing, astringent effects).
In Ayurvedic medicine, Guggul clears the subtle channels, or the interstitial network.
What is the interstitial network?
The interstitium is a network of tissues located just below the skin but above the muscles. This network contains 10% of our fluid mass and exchanges materials with the lymph and blood system, from cells to cells. The interstitial fluid also collects waste evacuated by the cells, which, in contact with the lymphatic system, drain them towards the emunctories.
Clear and colorless, interstitial fluid bathes and surrounds the body's cells and provides a vital means of exchange.
Studies conducted on Guggul prove that it has the ability to eliminate toxins that accumulate in the interstitial fluid.
The virtues of Myrrh
Antioxidants extracted from Myrrh help cleanse, rejuvenate, and protect the skin. Powerful skin healing and regeneration agent.
Endowed with astringent properties, Myrrh helps to stimulate the skin's healing process, and therefore helps fight skin conditions such as eczema or acne.
