I've been skinny, bloated, and then healthy, and I've never felt better about myself. How did I get there? By counting calories?
I counted. A notebook to calculate everything, every food item I ate. Then one day, years later, I threw away my notebook. A leap into the void. A very frightening act of trust, only to realize, today, that calories represent a lie, an obsession, a disease... perpetuated by society, and by specialists too.
Taking calories into account is like thinking of our body as a chemistry lab, like an oven, it doesn't represent reality. (and if it were true, diets would work, but we can only reduce calories and think we're changing)
When I realized that I shouldn't approach food in terms of calories, there was a scramble in my head to arrive at an about-face, at harmony, at common sense.
The nutritional and digestibility of foods matter . There you go. And nutritious doesn't mean high in calories, doesn't mean weight gain. On the contrary. Here again, an intellectual and emotional jostle. Low-calorie celery is packed with phytonutrients.
And few calories don't equal healthy. For example, let's take aspartame, which is incomprehensible to our digestive system. And what does it do when it doesn't understand what we're giving it? When it can't digest because it doesn't understand this unnatural chemical "thing"?
Of course I write with emotion, at least a third of us are sick because of calories.
What if we focus on the quality of food, knowing that the important thing is to nourish our cells, our body, so that it functions well, period? There's no need to gain weight to do this, because phytonutrients nourish the cells. And when we eat highly digestible meals, nothing accumulates in our bodies.
When a woman stops making herself vomit after hearing me talk about this common sense, victory.
When a mother starts eating again, trusting in this common sense, victory.
When women who are used to weighing themselves several times a week try the experience of eating to nourish themselves properly, wonderfully, they win because not only do they rediscover this lightness of being, but they are also fulfilled (and fulfilled does not mean fattened). What's more, their body no longer cries out for food because it too is fulfilled, it finally receives the phytonutrients it needs to function well. Freedom.
Join me in saying no to calories and yes to the nutritious and digestible quality of food, our allies of vitality. And for those who are struggling, you can trust my recipes, all described as highly nutritious and digestible. With all my love and understanding,
Jacynthe xx
