The beautiful effects of Selenium with lycopene from tomatoes in Sophie's life:
“I have been known to have skin problems (severe eczema on my hands now under control), psoriasis on my elbow and sun allergy for several years.
In spring, as soon as my skin is exposed to the sun, I get a rash, pruritus (itching) and edema (swelling) which can last for a few days.
Following a consultation with a dermatologist, she told me that it was an allergic reaction to the sun and that to avoid the reaction I should use sunscreen # 30 and above. Which I did, but when I go to the south, the cream is not enough. I already have a significant reaction in my arms (with pain and so swollen that I had difficulty moving my wrists) all over my stomach and thighs. Following this experience, I no longer exposed myself to the sun between 11:00 and 14:00 and I wore a long-sleeved shirt.
As soon as I stopped taking Selenium, I started taking it (I ate Brazil nuts every day for my eczema).
Last summer, I realized I hadn't had a sun reaction from sun exposure without sunscreen. I ditched sunscreen and used Shea Butter Vanilla and Zinc Cream.
My observation: no summer reaction despite greater exposure to the sun and no long-sleeved shirts.
Before jumping to conclusions, it remains to be seen how I will react in the south. In March, I went to Costa Rica with my Karité Solaire, of course I avoided exposure from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It was sunny every day and at 8am it was 32 degrees so constant sun exposure... at the end of the week I had a slight reaction on the back of my hands, nothing more.
