Yes, on March 9th (before the crisis reached this magnitude in Quebec), we published an article written on March 3rd by science journalist Xavier Bazin from the French site Santé corps esprit , whose team includes two doctors - one specialist in anesthesia, the other in pharmacy - plus a graduate in Chinese medicine and two naturopaths, each with several publications.
The article in question, " Coronavirus: the natural protocol to be disseminated urgently," suggests protecting yourself by following the protocol established according to scientific literature and after consulting their best experts: Dr. Eric Ménat, micro-nutritionist Julien Venesson, aromatherapist Elske Miles, phytotherapist Caroline Gayet, and naturopath Didier Le Bail. The approach is natural medicine.
This article suggests taking certain vitamins :
-vitamin D: "A study from the University of Colorado conducted in a nursing home showed that simply swallowing a dose of 3,000 IU of vitamin D per day can reduce the risk of respiratory infection by 40% <1>"
-vitamin C: A review of studies by the highly respected Cochrane Foundation confirmed that vitamin C may be effective in some people in preventing winter infections <2> .
-vitamin E, "also known to strengthen the immune system – and we know that most elderly people are seriously lacking in it! It is also a vital vitamin for lung health – provided you choose a natural, good quality one, rather than a synthetic one <4> ."
...
He then proposes a promising dietary supplement: quercetin
"It is one of those "super-nutrients" that helps protect you against almost all diseases: against aging, against cancer <5> , against Alzheimer's <6> , against hypertension <7> … without the slightest adverse effect. It is also and above all an effective antiviral <8> … and even a natural bronchodilator, valuable against inflammation of the lungs <9> .
Result: leading Canadian researchers are convinced that quercetin is the most promising substance against the new coronavirus <10> ! " Quercetin has a good chance of working , not only to prevent but to cure the coronavirus ," explained Dr. Michel Chrétien on Canadian television <11> . I should point out that Dr. Chrétien is one of the most respected virologists in the world. He and his team have been working on quercetin for years. He has already proven its effectiveness on the Zika and Ebola viruses. Also note that a clinical trial on 1,000 Chinese people is underway to confirm the benefits of quercetin against the coronavirus. But while we wait for definitive proof, there is no reason not to try it!"
WHEN THE TEXT IS BETWEEN " ", IT MEANS THAT THE WORDS ARE THOSE OF ANOTHER AUTHOR AND NOT MINE, just in case...
“ Quercetin costs only $1.50 a day, while newer antivirals cost $1,000 a day ,” Dr. Chrétien points out.
"It must be said that quercetin is a 100% natural substance, found in particular in onions..."
Then he (Xavier Bazin) suggests "propolis which reduces symptoms and accelerates healing in cases of angina , sinusitis or the flu , <12> .
Thirdly, he (Xavier Bazin) proposes "the power of essential oils to protect you"
"We've known for years that most essential oils are incredibly effective antivirals. And among all those that are effective, there is one that all our experts recommend you use for prevention:
"Start with ravintsara , which has the advantage of having few contraindications. On the wrists and for breathing. You can combine it with tea tree oil" (Dr. Eric Ménat).
Ridiculed by the journalist from l'Actualité, Dr. Éric Menat, author of 16 books, is a general practitioner, qualified in dietetics and nutritional diseases. He teaches phytonutrition at the Faculty of Medicine of Paris XIII. He is one of those doctors who believe that health is not just about taking medication. For him, dietary and nutritional advice should be part of the general practitioner's standard tools.
He (Xavier Bazin) continues with other essential oils, to complete his "prevention protocol, to avoid being infected".
The author concludes with this, "if you are infected":
"As for Pierre Franchomme, one of the world's greatest specialists in essential oils, he recommends Noble Laurel essential oil:
“ The antiviral properties of bay laurel have been the subject of well-documented research. This is the case of a study led by Monica R. Loizzo, from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Calabria. It demonstrated the in vitro activity of bay laurel essential oil on the SARS-CoV virus responsible for the 2003 SARS epidemic <14> .”
Then he (Xavier Bazin) leaves with a word about chloroquine, this anti-malarial drug which could be effective against the coronavirus.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found this article to make sense (I give you Xavier Bazin's scientific references here at the end), without ever, ever, ever, suggesting that a cure had been found. On the contrary, I have been highlighting isolation and social distancing since March 15th for having closed our 6 houses (and as many bistros, beauty salons) on the same day, before the order to this effect a week later, and ourselves being isolated since that day. I would never put my life alone in the hands of essential oils. The members who follow me have all understood very well that when I refer to the use of essential oils, diffused in our atmosphere or worn on the wrist, it is in addition to a healthy lifestyle, without ever claiming to be a means of defense, let alone, of healing. These are determined by isolation, social distancing and all the precautions & health measures put in place by our government. Take my word for it: my family and I are devotees and follow all of these recommendations to the letter. I also, of course, published Xavier Bazin's article, mentioning, as all government and health authorities remind us, the importance of washing our hands. Long and often.
Timeline:
On March 13 , Lapresse professionally raised the fact that this article (by Xavier Bazin) was controversial (which is often the case with natural medicine, not without an abundance of scientific evidence, but without a lobby, yes); at that time, the article was only posted on our site, I had not yet referred to it, the journalist alone had noticed it.
So the next day, I didn't hesitate to point out in turn that this article was controversial.
We received our first essential oils, including ravintsara, and I referred to this article for guiding us in our selection of essential oils to prioritize in our bottling.
March 15 : we are closing our 6 houses to encourage isolation; we are maintaining 1 then 2 kitchens for home delivery of salads (2,500 meals per week); I propose offering a daily meeting to our members live at 10am and 9pm, for those who are alone, to do themselves good, to help each other.
March 19 : I am bringing together 11 products in a practical kit, my-practical-kit, which includes, among other things, our hand gel, formulas for cleaning, including the purifying one with the famous thymol thyme, also for ambient air, an npn formula - approved by Health Canada (we have more than 40 npn) - to relieve coughs, 3 soaps, our version of the moisturizer, etc.) (...it is this kit that is $154 and not our individual essential oils as some journalists have claimed).
March 23 to March 25 : I read the book "Au coeur des essences - Quand les huiles essentielles s'invitent en milieu hospitalier" , the story of a nurse who integrates aromatherapy into the medical structures of hospitals in Colmar, France; I mention how she uses certain essential oils at home, with her family (for example, by diffusing ravintsara & eucalyptus radiata, known for their anti-infectious properties, in each room of their house, at the time when the 2009 flu epidemic was raging, while she and her doctor husband were in contact with many patients) then the essential oils that she recommends in a hospital environment and for what purposes. I created a set of essential oils according to its uses, both atmospheric antiseptic and deeply soothing, or otherwise, brightening when one is feeling low. So many uses that appear to me once again to be helpful in these times of anxiety, solitude, and worry. For example:
- diffuse to boost morale: lemon, orange & bergamot
-to diffuse (or place on a handkerchief) for the calming properties to breathe in at night in bed: lavender & orange
I take the trouble each time to read his warning: " this book does not replace a medical consultation in any way, ... aromatherapy should only be used as a therapeutic complement to conventional medicine and its current treatments."
March 25 : I mention a doctor of pharmacy https://www.aude-maillard.fr/4-huiles-essentielles-contre-le-coronavirus/ who suggests 4 essential oils (including bay laurel, tea tree, ginger...) to act as a barrier, as much with a nasal oil, as a topical massage oil, as a synergy to diffuse, with scientific references, who writes clearly that: " This advice is not intended to replace drug treatment and is in no way a substitute for a medical diagnosis, screening or medical consultation. It is complementary and not alternative (...) this advice is not intended to cure the coronavirus (because no essential oil is documented on this new virus), but to screen it or limit its effects because we will have prepared ourselves for it."
Wednesday, March 25 in the evening : I received a request from a journalist who had already decided to destroy us, despite our response & references (read here https://maisonjacynthe.ca/fr/blog/reponse-a-la-journaliste-de-lactualite/ ), with her headline the next day: "Maison Jacynthe promotes false treatments against the coronavirus" ; it only took a few hours for the media and public figures to take up the headline without even validating the sources, without even validating the veracity of the story.
On Paul Arcand's show on 98.5fm, journalist Lise Ravary, without checking her sources, managed to sully our reputation in a matter of seconds: "La Jacynthe didn't understand anything... she's selling essential oils for $154 to combat the virus...". It's all false. This show was my benchmark.
And so on with the Journal de Montréal, de Québec, TVA Nouvelles, the pharmacist obviously, ...; until authors, actors, presenters, entrepreneurs take up the fake news and spread it in turn ...
The young journalist Camille Lopez (2 years of career) would have closed Maison Jacynthe if such an article in such a media had appeared 10 years ago. It is still ironic that the one who declares herself in search of "fake news" and whose vocation would be "fact checking" is at the origin of a smear campaign against our company and that now the whole of Quebec thinks that I propose a cure against the virus. Yet, when I think of investigative subjects on dangerous products, the possibilities flow. But the last one would be one that offers salads & healthy products, 100% natural, made here in Quebec. Just that young Camille presents her article in this way "This company is followed by more than 100,000 people on Facebook", as if this in itself were a danger, demonstrates her bias.
On the one hand, I am therefore treated as a criminal, to be imprisoned, and a terrible opportunist (be certain that MJ does not need subterfuges and or to deceive his customers; we are not enough for the demand) while I have always placed myself in the position of the friend who wants good and who would like to know.
On the other hand, and since then, I have been sent, especially from France & Switzerland, several references on the use of essential oils proposed to "boost your immune system against the pandemic, to naturally strengthen your body's defenses" including the famous: ravinstara, tea tree, niaouli, palmarosa, eucalyptus radiata. As if everyone, except us, had agreed on the goodness of these precious and very intelligent molecules as demonstrated in their works by Dr. Jean Valnet, Robert Tisserand, Rodney Young, Dr. Jean-Pierre Willem and other doctors, Nobel Prize winners and scientific references in aromatherapy.
We have always taken all necessary precautions, knowing what we can say, assert, etc. None of our clients ever thought I had a cure for the virus. But since Friday, new clients have been approaching us for the kit of remedies that could cure the coronavirus. It is unfortunate, young Camille, in search of sensationalism, that you initiated the spread of the news suggesting that I offer an anti-coronavirus cure. And that you, the team in charge of News, encouraged it. That you, the media, in search of ratings, followed suit without question. And that all of you who were rightly offended, did not check first. Now at least you know.
(Note that I have removed the link to the original article from our site; it is true that a pop-up window now opens, which was not the case when we published it on March 9.)
