The importance of always examining the ingredients in your products
This morning I received my beautiful organic alcohol-free vanilla and at the bottom of the package I discovered a pretty pink box: "Oh, a 4 oz bottle as a gift sample!"
Hmm… a light treatment conditioner… without delay, I decided to undertake a thorough inspection.
I remembered that on the Maison Jacynthe website, there had already been an article that talked about toxic ingredients and that also referred us to the address of another site where we only needed to write the first three letters of an ingredient to know if it was harmful or not, this site still exists, here it is: https://laveritesurlescosmetiques.com/recherche-inci.php#
First of all, I noticed these words on the box: Tested on humans, paraben-free, sulfate-free, pea-based, and amino acid-based. Sound reassuring?
So I tackled the ingredient list… not 3-4, but 36, and it took me several minutes to search. Without listing all 36 ingredients, I can still give you the total ratings for them:
5 satisfactory
17 very good
6 good
1 uncertain because it depends on the origin of the ingredient
6 insufficient
2 not recommended
My observation is quick... despite the majority of satisfactory, very good and good mentions which win hands down, the good and very good mentions weigh little in my balance and even less: the uncertain, the insufficient and the not recommended are not there to reassure me.
While the promise of luscious, plump, and voluminous hair can be very tempting, even a free gift that is unfortunately poisoned, for me, it's a definite NO! Checking what you apply to yourself (and my family) is the watchword!
I repeated this same exercise to satisfy my curiosity, after seeing in a magazine column a list of products suggested to help the skin during menopause. I targeted 5 facial products (creams and serums from popular brands).
First of all, for the majority of these products (their prices are all higher than the price of Maison Jacynthe serums), I notice that the first ingredient mentioned is simply water! Disappointing to begin with, because who wants to pay for water, right? Moreover, expensive product does not mean good either!
I continue my research and I discover, once again, ingredients that make your hair stand on end, yes, to name just a few: solvent, silicone oil, chemical sunscreen filters, parabens, polymers...
Digging deeper, we can discover in certain cosmetic products what are called "polyolefins." Polyolefins are the largest family of plastics. They include, among others, polyethylenes (a non-biodegradable thermoplastic resin). You know... the small, popular microbeads found everywhere, in toothpaste, exfoliants, scrubs, and even on packaging. They produce a continuous film on the skin, hair, or nails, much like wax! These microbeads end up in the ocean and cause serious damage to the environment and aquatic life because they are too small to be filtered by wastewater treatment plants. Several states, such as France, are now in the process of banning them completely.
All endocrine disruptors, a real nuisance for your health! No, I don't think this will help with menopause, or at any time in life! Again, check, check, check ! We do it for the food we eat and we absolutely must do it for what we put on our face, body, hair and in our mouth. A big "No" to these products that we find on cupboard doors, floors, carpets etc...
Here is why I chose Jacynthe's products: through her desire to always warn us against these harmful disruptors, through the superior quality of her finely chosen, natural, active ingredients (and we can eat them, incredible isn't it!) and without forgetting the effectiveness of her products which is constantly proven by the testimonials which continue to increase, she shows us that all these factors combined are in my eyes a sure guarantee for my health.
Without forgetting that its openness to anticipate the needs of its customers, to adapt to their requests, the transparency that it continually projects means that waiting for great alternatives to everything that is offered to us on the market is truly a health gift to offer yourself or to our loved ones!
With that, I'm off to do my beauty ritual with a rose jasmine serum (this jasmine is simply captivating?), without forgetting a little caramel fir butter on my hands and a few sprays of Passion perfume in my hair. A real treat to treat yourself to morning and evening!
