The 21-Day Challenge for a Thorough Spring Clean
*at the bottom of the challenge you will find the proportions of vinegar/water/essential oils*
Week 1
Day 1: empty fridge/freezer, clean with water and vinegar (and purifying formula for a fresh scent and a nice feeling of a job done!)
Day 2: Curtains with steam iron or machine or cleaner
Day 3: Computer and phone (we sort, we put away files and emails)
Day 4: Laundry room or corner (descaling the machine with vinegar alone during one cycle)
Day 5: Handbag (we often forget it, but a little something will do it good!)
Day 6: Cleaning the oven
Day 7: Under the bathroom sink
Week 2
Day 8: Kitchen cupboards: empty and rinse with vinegar/water
Day 9: Wardrobe: There's no quick fix here. So take the time you need and three garbage bags: donate, sell, throw away. Go through all your clothes. What you haven't worn in a year, what's stained or no longer fits, what still has tags on it and is in a "one day I'll wear it" section, needs to find a use, another home. Something to do with friends?
Day 10: Bedroom chest of drawers, sorting socks, underwear...
Day 11: Beds and duvets. Turn the mattress over, sprinkle with baking soda, and wash the duvet, which is then dried in the dryer with two tennis balls.
Day 12: Spices and pharmacy. Check the dates and put them in jars with labels.
day 13: drawer full of junk we sort, we give away, we throw away
Day 14: Makeup bag and jewelry box. We clean the brushes, we sort them, we renew them as needed... do we need that much? What do we use?
Week 3
Day 15: Office (or office area). We tidy up, we file, we take care of what was left pending
Day 16: The other wardrobes
Day 17: The living room, we remove the covers and wash or take them to the dry cleaners depending on the situation. Sprinkle the armchairs and sofa with bicarbonate of soda and vacuum.
Day 18: Entrance, we wash/take the winter things to the dry cleaner, we sprinkle with bicarbonate, we rub the tags with a vinegar/water mixture (and citrus peels :)
Day 19: Libraries, we sort, we give (to our child's school?)
Day 20: Outside (balcony/courtyard), wash the furniture with vinegar water or with the mixture for wooden furniture (in a spray bottle, mix 5 tablespoons of white vinegar, 5 tablespoons of olive oil, 15 drops of purifying formula: spray and rub with a clean, dry cloth, this mixture cleans, nourishes and makes the wood shine)
Day 21: We appreciate the result, we pick flowers :)
Tips and recipes using white vinegar:
- To make glasses shine, soak them in vinegar for a few hours
- To degrease pans, pour 2 cm of vinegar into the bottom, cover and bring to a boil.
- To remove limescale, cover with vinegar and wait for it to work before rinsing.
- To descale the toilet, pour vinegar and 2-3 drops of the purifying formula and wait a few hours.
- To descale the dishwasher and washing machine, run empty with 1/2 liter of white vinegar
- To clean windows and mirrors, pour 1/4 of vinegar into a spray bottle in 1 liter of water with 3-4 drops of purifying formula; spray and dry with a clean cloth, polish with newspaper; or use coffee filters, it's magic! Or just water with two Enviro cloths
- To disinfect and clean the fridge: mix one part vinegar to one part hot water and wipe with a clean sponge soaked in this mixture without rinsing, a thin film is left and prevents bacteria.
- for the floor: 1 liter of water, 1 tbsp. of vinegar, 12 drops of purifying formula!
