Permaculture and animals

Permaculture et animaux

This is how animals have integrated into my life over time.

You will understand that in the land of Eden, these animals also serve to teach, soothe, entertain children (and older ones, I love them so much) who learn to know them, and again:

  • Pepito, the donkey, is the guardian; his presence ensures that the little ones are not attacked; his manure serves as fertilizer.
  • The three little pigs turn over the earth, plow it, and consume the pulp of fresh juices, leftovers, and fallen fruit.
  • The sheep and the goat let themselves be approached by the little ones who feed them by hand, the wool of the former is collected; and with their cousin, they serve as efficient shearers! They are also Pépito's family, his reason for being :)
  • Chickens, like rabbits and ducks, move around in portable (homemade) chicken coops to feed on insects and grubs, to till and fertilize the land in their own way and to offer, for the former, good fresh eggs! The rabbit-strawberry combination (in an alley) is fertile
  • The horse allowed for sleigh rides in winter, it died of old age, we will find one as gentle, my dream being eventually to see it working in the fields as in the past

Obviously, each garden has its own harmony, its own family.

Animals calm us, keep us in touch with nature, rain or shine, and also, they cultivate our "intuitive side" too often flouted by the intellect, calculations, the mind!

Did you know that the pigs and calves I received had never seen the light of day? The same goes for the goats next door... We keep them in stables, pigsties, their whole lives.

What does your pet represent in your life?
