Letter to the Press

Lettre à La Presse

Maison Jacynthe responded yesterday by email to a journalist from La Presse. She reported the facts accurately. Unfortunately, few people read everything; we often stop at the headlines.

I add that I am exhausted from receiving the blows, from always being the target instead of the people involved. I don't think I will put an end to the bad intentions towards us, but I feel strong to respond.

Here is the letter we wrote yesterday to the journalist from La Presse. To you who read to the end.

"Good morning,

Let's be clear and allow me to be exasperated because we understand that this is not a short story but the continuation of an incident with a never-ending sequel and of which, I explain to you, I am not the author.

Yes, we are definitely suing Christian Limoges and his student Louis-Simon Leroux. The latter caused serious harm to our company by offering his advice on our platform. It must be understood here that our blog is a platform where several speakers have spoken. I obviously have a lot of affinities with most of them, but there are certain contributions with which I do not agree and by which I can even be outraged, and if that is the case, believe me, I act quickly. Generally, we are able to filter directly but never infallibly since we offer a service to answer questions and trust the people in place to respond appropriately while they are aware of the procedure to follow as well as the regulations. The advice offered by Louis-Simon Leroux, a member of Actumus, to a mother of a baby was sent by me as soon as I learned about it, I was even able to speak with the mother in question just a few days ago.

Since this incident, I've been constantly being criticized, and the credibility of Maison Jacynthe has been questioned, even though it was not in any way involved. I even defended this incident even though I wasn't the one who did it. And I took the blows, personally. People misunderstand the situation. I provided support in the same way as you with LaPresse.ca; sometimes we are a media outlet, sometimes I am a host who can, yes, paraphrase the words of guest experts. But Maison Jacynthe is not a naturopathy institute and does not offer hydrotherapy treatments. We are boutiques, beauty salons, and bistros, and we had Actumus products on our shelves for a while (and I must tell you, we will soon have our own, as our first NPNs have been released).

Regarding the College of Physicians' fine, Maison Jacynthe has pleaded not guilty because we believe this organization is using the wrong contact person and address. We have no problem paying any fine as long as it is correctly worded. This fine should be addressed to the correct person/company, namely Christian Limoges and/or Actumus and/or its naturopaths.

When it comes to our skincare, I know perfectly well, and so does my team, that we cannot talk about acne, rosacea, eczema... I even refrain from using the word "advice" and instead report testimonials in such cases, mentioning that I cannot comment on such situations and that you should consult your doctor. A warning about this is also on our site. I am accused of having generated life changes by offering natural skincare and salads and of having "acted in such a way as to give rise to the belief that our company is authorized to practice medicine on its Facebook page."

I sincerely hope that I will not be reduced to only selling products since my desire, since 2013, is to share inspirations that can improve the quality of people's skin and lives. Alternatives. Without taking myself for a health professional. I am rather a spokesperson for a lifestyle with a media platform and a beautiful clientele who are not fooled.
