Be different and do your trail

Etre différent et faire sa trail

My step by step... More of a reflection once again (and I think who am I to advise), but if I look back at myself 9-10 years ago, no joke, that was what it looked like as a moment in the journey/turning point. The 4 parts of a big awakening stage.

Step 1 - My revealing readings

I could have given lots of titles, but 4 books that changed my life:

In Praise of Slowness , Carl Honoré – for the reflection on the rhythm of life and how to approach and enjoy it;

The Art of Simplicity , by Dominique Loreau – for reflection on space, and the place of objects in our lives and our minds;

The Art of Lists, by Dominique Loreau – for an original way to think about what we want/don't want, what we have, what we wish for, what we no longer want...

The Campbell Report – China Study , by Collin Campbell – to be literally overturned, jostled, shocked… You have to be ready for change and to review the contents of your plate to read this book;

Step 2: noise, time

Reduce the noise (in the sense of interference) to reflect. Give yourself time to reflect. To know where you are, what you want, what you need, what you no longer want... You have to be able to reflect. Take stock. And to reflect you have to reduce the noise, take a step back from the action. And that takes time.

Suggestion: Turn off the TV and read! Getting rid of the TV was a turning point in my life (and my family's), so much free time and peace!!!

Step 3: Force change, seek, practice, act

A week without TV, a Monday without meat, a new vegetable per week, zero waste... It doesn't matter. But search, always search, and force change, small or large. Get used to the movement, to adapt, and reduce your fear... Of change. Act on your quality of life, on your diet, your home. No big revolutions, but improve something every day. The more we change, the more we realize that we can change and act on things and our lives, the less afraid we are, and the more we want to continue doing it. Sometimes we have to push ourselves out of our comfort zone to realize that we were perhaps only used to it, but not comfortable at all!

Step 4: The life you want

An old joke: I have two weeks left to live... I'll take the first two of July. Still, there's not a minute to lose and we have to keep it in mind. What do we want? Not what can we do right now, but what do we want deep down ? Without judgment, knowing what we want simply because otherwise we'll never have it. And when we know what we want, we'll take the steps to get it.

This is the next step… Taking the means to what we want.
