Here are some data reported in studies, in references, describing the properties of these oils:

  • Eugenol is one of the main constituents of clove oil. A large body of recent scientific evidence supports traditional medicine claims that eugenol exerts beneficial effects primarily associated with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Based on the data collected in the study, eugenol represents a very interesting bioactive compound with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. 1
  • A study to determine the antimicrobial activity of certain essential oils on halitosis or bad breath has provided evidence that cinnamon oil, whose main component is cinnamaldehyde, may be a promising substance to incorporate into oral hygiene products to control bad breath. 2
  • Another study, this time, demonstrated the synergistic antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant efficacy of the combination of cinnamon and clove oil. 3
  • For ginger essential oil, its gingerol-related components have been reported to possess antimicrobial and antifungal properties, as well as several pharmaceutical properties. 4 Ginger also demonstrates antioxidant activity, which is highlighted in this study. 5
  • Evidence from relevant literature regarding the chemical composition of nutmeg essential oil and its therapeutic potential has been presented. Clinical and experimental studies have confirmed the antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antimalarial, anticonvulsant, hepatoprotective, antiparasitic, insecticidal and nematocidal activities of this oil. 6
