Dominique's Morning Ritual

Rituel du matin de Dominique

Dominique Rankin is our Grand Spiritual Leader. He is honored and delighted to be contributing to a magazine that will quickly spread teachings for peace. Here is his little ritual of happiness every morning.

– Every morning, the Great Chief sits down with his coffee facing east and recites this prayer.

– It is important for him to honor Mother Earth.

– To thank the Creator for allowing him to still experience these good times.

– To thank the one who gave him life, his mother.

– To thank his spiritual guide, his father, as well as all his ancestors

– He then commits to being in harmony with all living beings, animals, birds, all small creatures and all human beings.

So his days begin with a gesture of prayer of gratitude while sipping a good coffee in his rocking chair and when the opportunity arises, he climbs into his canoe and sets off to admire all the nature that Mother Earth offers us.

Migwech

Prayer

BY DOMINIQUE (T8AMINIK) RANKIN ,

Algonquin hereditary chief and medicine man

Thank you – Migwech to our grandfather the Sun, our grandmother the Moon and the stars. Every morning at dawn, we greet “Chumis”, the grandfather Sun, who shines upon us once more; then in the evening, we thank “Kokum”, the grandmother Moon, who watches over us all night.

Thank you – Migwech for all the medicine that Mother Earth gives us: her trees, her roots, her bark, her foliage, her flowers and her plants.

Thank you – Migwech for the little fruits that we joyfully pick every summer.

Thank you – Migwech for our animal brothers and sisters: big game, small fur-bearing animals, fish, birds and insects.

Thank you – Migwech to the thunder, lightning and rain, which cleanses and quenches the thirst of Mother Earth,

Thank you – Migwech to the Air we breathe, to the sacred Fire and to the sacred Water that nourish and purify us.

Thank you – Migwech my Creator, whom I greet in the four directions of the Great Healing Circle:

East, for Life

South, for Respect

West, for Acceptance

North, for Peace
