Imbibition: description and demonstration

Imbibition : description et démonstration

With the change of season and the cold setting in, we observe that some skins will tend to become sensitive. At this time of year - but at any time as well - soaking will be a tool of choice to regain skin comfort. All skin types will appreciate it, keeping in mind that the same soaking will not necessarily suit everyone. It is therefore interesting to observe our skin and question its current needs and our objectives in order to choose the soaking that will suit it. Personalizing it, adapting it to our skin condition and our objectives, will allow us to obtain even more effective and impressive results.

First of all, what is imbibition and what role does it play?

Quite simply, imbibing consists of drowning the skin, saturating it with an emulsion made from oil and water. Depending on our skin type and our goals, we will play with the dosages, formulas and concentrations to form this emulsion which will thus meet the specific needs of our skin. In addition to choosing formulas adapted to our skin, it is important to favor formulas that make us feel good, that appeal to us. The inviting scent and texture of our imbibition will give us, in addition to the aromatic and anti-aging active ingredients, a well-being effect. Imbibition is important, but the receptiveness of the work we do is just as important.

Soaking is a skin preparation, but it is also an anti-aging treatment. When applied to the skin, you already see a smoothing effect and feel comfortable. A wonderful anti-aging treatment, all that remains is to apply the serum after soaking with a good massage to confirm the work started by it! A soak is an emollient that will soften and allow the skin to plump up, smooth out and be much more receptive to nutrition. The result is immediate, you can see it right away!

To properly mix our emulsion for imbibition :

The mixture is prepared in a small container. It is always the thickest part that is diluted. The opposite will be difficult to mix. You can use a wooden stick (for example, a coffee stick) or a small, slightly rubbery or stainless steel whisk. When working with essential oils, avoid using metal tools. Therefore, glass, porcelain, and wood are preferred.

Soak for dry, thin and mature skin:

For mature and drier skin, soaking will become a favorite treatment at first contact! Not only will soaking rehydrate and nourish the skin so that it regains its comfort, but for those who want to achieve a smoothing effect, a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, it will be a treatment of choice to add to the beauty ritual.

Rather than choosing an oil to create the emulsion, for alipic, thin and wrinkled skin, choose a Mousseline!

Recipe for soaking with Kukui Mousseline (which Nathalie calls crème fraîche!)

" Ingredients " :

In a small container, start by adding the thickest, richest formula, the Mousseline. Add the Serum (or oil) to the Mousseline, whisking to lighten it, then add the Sacred Lotus (or any other moisturizer such as the Aloe Gel or the Beautifier). Top up with the floral water to lighten it and achieve the desired texture, milky but creamy. We want it to be fluid while clinging well to the skin without running. This is why the liquidizer is added last.

How to perform the soak? Here are the steps for a treatment with it:

  1. Surface cleaning with Cleansing Oil or Jojoba Oil ; rinse with a washcloth.
  2. Soaking: Saturate the skin with the created emulsion. Don't hesitate to apply a lot and add more to keep the skin moist and able to expand like a sponge. Massage into the skin for at least 3 minutes.
  3. For even more anti-aging action, you can add Exfopur directly without rinsing, either as is or enriched with serum, and continue massaging. Rinse with a washcloth and continue the ritual with floral water, moisturizer, and serum.

Or, without doing step 3, go directly to the Oil Mask which is described below.

Soaking and subcutaneous pimples:

When there is a pimple, there is generally also a reaction and sensitivity. Because there is an occlusion, an asphyxia, the skin that does not react properly can no longer assimilate, to breathe well, so it will create subcutaneous occlusions. Thus, the best formula to use, if the skin is not too fragile, will be cleansing oil .

Recipe idea for soaking:

The steps:
  1. Surface cleansing with Cleansing Oil (or Jojoba Oil): to rid the skin of small dead cells, dust and pollution or simply its retained secretions that were produced during the night. Rinse with a damp washcloth.
  2. Second cleansing, this time with soaking. Take the time to massage the skin for a long time, for 3 minutes, to really feel the skin, to knead very gently and locally the subcutaneous pimples.
  3. It is possible to add, always locally, a little Exfopur on top (therefore without having previously rinsed the imbibition) or, in the case of thicker and less sensitive skin, a formula such as Exfopro (if the skin allows it), Dermopur for occasional pimples, or Dermopur acne . In this case, it is possible to do the imbibition by adding 1 to 3 drops, always depending on the sensitivity. This imbibition could be done 2 or 3 times a day.
  4. Rinse with a damp washcloth and continue the beauty ritual with the floral water, moisturizer and serum (or the oil used as a serum).

Another beauty secret from Nathalie: the oil bath or oil mask:

Ultimate and sublime treatment for all damaged, very wrinkled, stained skin, which has problems with dilated ostia. Therefore suitable for all skin types, simply by choosing the oil or serum according to our condition.

After soaking, while the skin will be very receptive, without rinsing, it is possible to continue with the oil mask. To do this, after moistening the skin with floral water, saturate the skin with plenty of oil, the one of your choice: Jojoba Oil, Tamanu Oil, Serum... according to your desire and the needs of your skin. Leave for 20 minutes before rinsing dry*, simply without doing anything else afterwards.

*Rinse dry: gently wipe with a dry washcloth to remove excess oil or with a soft cotton cloth, rub gently with rotating movements, gently holding your skin, in order to remove the small dead skin that is starting to peel off.

In general, the oil bath will be appreciated especially in the evening because then, during the night, the skin will excrete a lot and the ostia will close. In the case of wrinkled skin, in the morning you will discover smoothed skin and, thanks to the detachment effect from imbibition, a lightening effect. Wow! To try.
