For those like me who are looking to eat organic, with as little processing as possible, with as little packaging as possible, to save time and money by buying in bulk and in large quantities, the Nous Rire purchasing group is very good news. Either you buy from an existing local unit , or you innovate in your corner of Quebec and start your own. There are public purchasing units, others private, all the operating details can be found on their website and the movement is just waiting to grow. By buying in groups, in bulk, without premises or storefront, without packaging (and therefore without packaging marketing), by cutting out intermediaries and going back up the chain to small producers, Nous Rire allows us to make by far the most advantageous purchases that we can make in organic bulk (according to my personal and Montreal comparisons). We can't find everything there yet, but the more of us there are, the more purchasing power we will have and the more opportunities we will have to integrate new products. The specifications of Nous Rire, ecologically and ethically responsible, are rigorous, the initiative is laudable and welcome in our world of supermarkets where organic is too often sold to us as a luxury of individual health in micro-portions rather than as a response to the collective need to preserve our soils and our environment by feeding our families healthily not once in a while when the budget allows, but every day.
Thank you, Julie. I love who you are and the tools you offer us!
