What is metabolic health?
It's about feeling good in our bodies and having a wonderful quality of life! Our blood parameters are optimal, our metabolism has the nutrients to function well.
On the contrary, metabolic syndrome leads to disease (as much as 90% of the American population?) What diseases? So-called societal diseases (obesity, diabetes and what follows).
*Metabolic syndrome is a set of signs that are warning signs of possible health problems.
Metabolic syndrome = at least 3 of the following symptoms:
- Abdominal obesity
- Hypertension
- High triglycerides
- HDL too low
- Slightly elevated insulin/fasting glucose resistance
After that, when fasting glucose reaches 7 mmol/L or glycated hemoglobin exceeds 6.5%, frank diabetes is diagnosed.
The real "disease" that follows includes the following complications of diabetes:
- Cardiovascular diseases (atherosclerosis, heart attack, stroke, etc.)
- Kidney disease (kidney failure leading to dialysis)
- Weakened immune system (recurrent infections and longer healing time)
- Affected peripheral nerves (tingling or numbness in the extremities); this increases the risk of injury and not feeling it and with the weakened immune system it can lead to gangrene - diabetes = most important cause of amputations not related to trauma (accidents)
- Damage to the retina leading to blindness
Not pretty at all!!!
Metabolic syndrome is measured using criteria of metabolic flexibility: 1,2
- Abdominal fat without changing habits & difficulty losing this weight
- Feeling tired or hungry some time after eating & craving sugar
VS in good metabolic health, we use the carbohydrates and fats we eat as an energy source - so we do not generate insulin resistance and we do not draw on glycogen (muscle reserves) allowing us to make a sustained effort when needed!
Unfortunately, aging is associated with illness, yet we all want to move forward in wonderful metabolic health... and we can! The opposite shouldn't be a requirement.
The lifestyle I propose to you exactly matches all the ideas combined to live a long, healthy life, even to the end!
So, week after week, I invite you to adopt easy-to-integrate tools and habits that allow us to change our situation, to feel good and to continue like this, with our full potential.
How to improve metabolic health?
- Diet can correct poor metabolic health (starting with insulin resistance), broadly:
- Rich in color (polyphenols*), protein and good fats**
- Removing processed & "sprayed" food & reducing carbohydrates (ppp) - sugar makes you age
* Polyphenols are now known for their beneficial effects on intestinal flora. Furthermore, a healthy intestinal flora helps prevent metabolic diseases and, in principle, also prevents the associated increase in intestinal permeability.
** Eating good fats helps you lose fat - a diet rich in fat promotes the use of fat as fuel and helps improve our insulin sensitivity.
2. Supplements provide the body with the vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids and essential fatty acids (especially omega-3s) it needs to function properly.
The lifestyle we have been offering you through detox since January follows these principles:
- Fiber supports digestion and nourishes the good bacteria in the microbiota in addition to having a positive effect on cholesterol.
- The Fountain of Youth provides collagen (with several side effects), good fats and antioxidants.
- We support the liver - metabolic factory - and the pancreas and reduce insulin resistance with this diet and specific Metabzen, Gluconig and Detox formulas.
- Good fats and digestible and profitable proteins on the menu.
- We focus on essential basic supplements.
Then comes the finishing touch as a bonus:
- In the Blue Zones, we move (which is facilitated by the lifestyle adopted above), we have a social network, a reason for living (Ikigaï), therefore a reduction in stress, a "natural" environment (therefore a reduction in exposure to endocrine disruptors).
- Through natural products and the proposed lifestyle, we can facilitate restorative sleep, reduce stress, decrease inflammation & rebalance the microbiota and thus continue to improve healthy life expectancy.
We can also add supplements to slow down the aging process (and diseases associated with aging). This is the medicine of tomorrow, a longevity medicine.
