Letter to the program In the Media

Lettre à l'émission Dans les médias

Good morning,

During your last show, one topic discussed was the "dangers" of certain "detox" trends. You then broadcast a montage with Gwyneth Paltrow followed by me, in one of my first videos shot three years ago while I prepare a green juice. I mention that with it, I directly nourish my cells with nutrients necessary for their proper functioning, in this case vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, trace elements...

Your edit unfortunately cut to "feed my cells" and the host turned to her guest to ask the question: can we feed our cells?
So I remain a little stunned, smiling I would say, while waiting for the reply that would evoke the danger in my speech. I like to imagine it: we are made up of cells. So instead of saying that my green juice nourishes me or nourishes my body or even my organs, I choose to say "my cells."

“Cells feed themselves” yes, but if we bathe them in sugar, bad fats, processed foods, what do they feed on?
Once again, I note that I am being quoted out of context, without respecting the entirety of my speech. However, we can take away from your promotion, speech and editing that what Jacynthe is doing is dangerous.

First of all, for me, being healthy is pretty simple. The inspirations shared by experts and scientists via our various platforms (maisonjacynthe.ca, shows, books, and Bookzines) are nothing out of the ordinary when you realize that the essence of the message and recipes boils down to eating more and more vegetables and opting for natural alternatives. What I appreciate about the discourse of all the professionals around me—because once again, I am only the spokesperson for this lifestyle, the unifier—is that they take the best of both worlds while remaining in the good, common sense.

Hence the good fortune I have in having developed a platform that can deliver a fair and healthy message. We never exclude science or rigor. On the contrary. We like to set the table so that our guests can take charge of their vitality. Our specialists (naturopaths, doctors, pharmacists, etc.) appear on my show, contribute to our Bookzines and books, and write articles on our website, sharing their decades of experience and expertise.

It is surprising to note that this "dark" side that was attributed to me five years ago when I started sharing recipes for my green juice, my mouth oil cleanse, energy balls, gluten-free, vegan options and gourmet salads to maximize one's vitality, that these references become "mainstream" today while different public professionals are appropriating them, with a huge delay you will agree! I feel so comfortable and honest to promote and offer choices, care and even healthy, natural and very high quality products.

I don't sell coffee-based colon cleansers, and I don't think drinking water replaces sunscreen, but I much prefer to use my own than traditional chemical ones. I've been familiar with the often-shared discourse of experts on our show about the importance of maintaining an alkaline body for 12 years, and it was one of the triggers for my desire to share the idea of eating as many raw and varied vegetables as possible for our lunch and dinner. That's my definition of detox: a clean and cost-effective diet. I like to eat to have energy and to optimize my vitality and health. No one, no health professional, can say that it's unhealthy or dangerous. On the contrary.

Our goal is truly to share this lifestyle (which is made up of inspirations on comforting children, ideas for tomorrow concerning permaculture, beneficial ingredients in cosmetics, and healthy alternatives brought to you by a team of experts) in a simple and accessible way, within everyone's reach. And no one reports being mixed up. Rather, I've heard of thousands (not hundreds) of life changes, regained health, healed skin, etc., since the beginning of my site (which for a year and a half only included sharing inspirations for well-being) and my books. AND all this with an open mind and great flexibility: there are five of us at home and four of us eat meat...
Sincerely,
Jacynthe

This is the story of my green juice !
