Step 1

I can't live without him anymore, I'm crazy about him. The energy he gives me is undeniable. So I want to know why.

Above all, do not compare it to store-bought juices, powders mixed with water, or simple pressed fruit juice.

I extract my juice from plants, hence its green color that makes me swoon every time. Oh yes, I love my juice. Besides its good taste, what can it possibly do to make me look forward to it? To make it give me this feeling of rejuvenation? To make it my guarantee of health, protecting me from ailments that others seem to catch here and there? Is it true that my bones can also count on it?

My body demands it as much for the energy it seems to provide me throughout the day as for other reasons that I understand as follows: it is the concentrate of nutrients from the plants that I put through my extractor (bought 11 years ago and which has been my faithful companion ever since) and for which the cells of my body do not have to work too hard to absorb them (I offer my microbiota as much fiber as I can, but I prefer to take my green juice on an empty stomach before my meal precisely so as not to obstruct the path of nutrients to the cells of my body). Obviously, I take it directly as soon as it is extracted to benefit from the ardor of these vitamins, minerals & enzymes (which do our internal cleaning), I do not wait for it to oxidize.

So, can a scientist tell me if I'm right in understanding my essential lemonade this way? Is there anything else in it besides water and sugar?

I just have to type "green juice benefits" to get Time (1) which publishes the words of 5 experts (and all 5 say that we should all drink them) including a PhD (doctorate holder and professor of nutrition at the University of North Carolina): "green juices are very healthy and much more so than fruit concoctions like smoothies (...) they are very low in sugar since they are made from vegetables."

Research by Dr. Lydia Bazzano (physicist and director of a research center) establishes a link between green juices (kale and other green leaves) and a lower risk of developing diabetes as well as a possible improvement in cholesterol. Of course, like all good things, do not overdo it and do not take it if you have kidney problems.

It's obviously better to have vegetables than juices, but since we hardly consume enough of them, it's better to have a green juice than to have nothing! And I like this image that my green juice offers me the nutrients of 4 pounds of vegetables (yes I put a fruit to make it delicious, the lemon helps too)... whereas if I had to sit in front of this quantity to ruminate, I would no longer have time to write to you!

And to go to the second link offered by my short search, this time to an article by Dr. Mercola (2) :

-green juices allow us to reach our ration of vegetables in a very easy to digest way
-green juice can be considered as a living broth of micronutrients that most people lack
-when we drink our green juice, it's like receiving an intravenous infusion of vitamins, minerals, enzymes because they go directly into our system without having to be "broken down" since they are already easy to digest
-assimilated in 20 minutes, these nutrients revitalize our energy

Still according to Dr. Mercola:

Most of us have a deficient digestive system; juicing our plants ensures that we receive their nutrients since they are in a highly digestible form.
& green juices can also:
-facilitate weight loss
- boost the immune system
-support brain health and more...

In short, my understanding of the vital power my green juice offers me is correct, even if I am not a scientist. In fact, I like to test it for myself and let myself be surprised by the positive effects, especially since there is no danger in putting celery through my juicer. And I haven't even mentioned the enthusiasm I get when offering these green juices to my children and teenagers! I like to listen to my body and I feel amazing with my green juice.
