Infrared Sauna – Benefits for the Skin

Infrared rays generate heat; they directly heat the body rather than the surrounding air. When it comes to skin care, here's how an infrared sauna could help improve your skin health and complexion:

  • Improved blood circulation: The heat generated by infrared saunas can help stimulate blood circulation. 1 Improved blood circulation means more oxygen and nutrients are transported to the skin, which can help improve its appearance and radiance.
  • Pore Cleansing: Sauna-induced sweating can help open pores 2,3 and expel impurities and dead skin cells, contributing to a clearer, healthier complexion.
  • Hydration: Excessive sweating can actually help flush toxins out of the skin. After a sauna, it is essential to rehydrate, which can also help keep the skin hydrated. 4
  • Stimulation of collagen production: Some studies suggest that the heat from infrared saunas can stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that helps keep skin firm and elastic. 5
  • Relaxation and stress reduction: Using an infrared sauna can be a relaxing experience and help improve mood 6 , which can have positive effects on the skin. Stress has been linked to various skin problems, so any activity7 that helps reduce stress can also help improve skin health.

Detox and Heavy Metals

The infrared sauna seems to me to be such a pleasant way to eliminate them; moreover, these studies indicate that sweating deserves to be taken into account for the detoxification of toxic elements. 1,2

HAMMAM

Sylvain and I meet every week for two hours. Bliss.

In the Hammam, you have the dry sauna, a steam bath with a cold shower in the middle, and two tubs for soaking in the cold after the sauna.

My circuit:

I start with the steam, my heat rising from the room itself. Optional: I place essential oils in the space provided to breathe them in directly from the steam and wrap myself in them. When I'm hot, I cool down in the shower. The first few times, not for long, but the more I get used to it, my body wants to be in the cold (surprising to say on a day like today!), it's then euphoric and the feeling immediately after, then for hours, extraordinary.

Bonus: the skin is toned. Relaxation is total.

After the steam, I go to the dry sauna. My bath runs during this time. I quickly get very hot in the dry space, in 5-10 minutes. Then I put my feet, my legs in the bath. It's rare that I can do more. I return to the heat. After that, I can sit in the bath and stay there more and more, sometimes up to 7 minutes. And if I return to the heat, it's to be able to return to the cold. In this exceptional... and lasting sensation. This frenzy in which my whole being participates. Indescribable but so addictive.

I'm going to take some invasive steam breaks (on the steam bath side) and then I'll return to my exciting circuit. I'll explain all this to you live from a cold bath (7 minutes).

Two hours go by quickly. You want to relive it. At least once a week. I couldn't live without it.

Where : At our MJ Eastman, 355 rue Principale (across from the church). Accommodations and meals are available (gourmet salads, soups, broths, chili, and drinks for a fee—everything you need for a completely rejuvenating stay).

This helps me understand the benefits - which are beyond me - of thermal baths and how to tame our winter afterwards: What is brown fat and why is it important to develop it? My body associates the benefits with the cold.
