Basil

Used in aromatherapy for centuries to work quickly for natural relief of headaches and migraines. 1

Rosewood

Linalool was the main component of A. rosaeodora (Rosewood) essential oil, which gives it antifungal properties 2 as well as an anti-inflammatory action on the skin. 3

Cinnamon

At once, tonic, stimulant, analgesic, spasmolytic, antiseptic, preservative, very broad-spectrum anti-infectious and warming. Cinnamon essential oil has been shown to produce spectacular results against one of the main bacteria responsible for bad breath. 4

Cardamom

It is also valued for its many virtues: carminative, digestive tonic, respiratory decongestant, expectorant, antispasmodic, vermifuge, anti-infectious, antibacterial, general stimulant. A study has provided evidence that cardamom fruit and seed extracts, through their antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, may be therapeutic agents of interest against periodontal infections. 5

Lemon

This remarkable antiseptic oil has many roles, including aiding digestion and tired livers. 6

Rose geranium

Geranium essential oil also has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity 7 that is beneficial for healing and skin balance. For example, it has been observed to contribute to increased collagen deposition in the skin and improve wound closure. This oil contains geraniol, which therefore has anti-elastase and anti-keratinase activity. 8

Ginger

Ginger has powerful antioxidant activity thanks to the gingerols it contains. It is also known to aid digestion and calm nausea. 9

Noble laurel

This essential oil is an essential oil in aromatherapy to be favored for its many benefits. It is both antibacterial and antifungal, and above all very well tolerated by skin application. It effectively relieves people suffering from joint pain, it provides respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular and skin benefits. It is also a soothing, balancing and toning oil. Several studies have reported the antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of bay leaf extraction, including this one carried out in Spain. 10

Lavender

Very versatile thanks to its various properties: painkiller, antispasmodic, skin regenerating and healing, muscle relaxant, anti-inflammatory, anti-catarrhal, expectorant. In terms of well-being, the linalool contained in lavender is a natural sedative, also known for relieving anxiety. 11

Peppermint

There are many studies on this essential oil; for example, regarding its effectiveness for headaches and migraines, a study published in 2019 12 in the International Journal of Preventive Medicine compared the effects of intranasal lidocaine and peppermint essential oil on migraine episodes. The result: nasal application of peppermint essential oil led to a decrease in the intensity and frequency of headaches and provided relief to the majority of patients in a similar way to lidocaine.

Myrrh

A 2010 study 13 found that topical application of myrrh oil helped increase white blood cells around skin wounds, leading to faster healing.

Black pepper

This oil with its spicy aroma brings a much-loved spice to cooking. Among its highly valued virtues: it is a tonic, digestive stimulant and general stimulant. 14

Ylang Ylang

It is a true seductress and also has several properties, including being calming and relaxing. Two published studies 15,16 give it anxiolytic properties. It is reported that inhaling ylang-ylang can reduce stress and anxiety levels.
