The Cheminots School, multi-age, bullying and learning and behavioral disorders

L'école des Cheminots, le multiâge, l'intimidation et les troubles d'apprentissage et de comportement
  • Bullying is nonexistent. Yes, arguments can happen, but bullying is extremely rare since the children are used to working together. The kindergarteners are with the older children, and they all learn to work and play together.
  • Because each student can learn at their own pace and will be encouraged according to their abilities, the definition of a learning disability is changing. Individually, each student will be supported by teachers according to their level. And in group activities, this is where each student's strengths will be highlighted and mutual support comes into play. No one is "left aside" because they haven't fully grasped the material.
  • And for a child who has a diagnosis of dyslexia (for example), they will be monitored and given the tools they need to learn. Dyslexic children simply learn in a different way and they need to be given that opportunity to learn in their own way. They will ultimately achieve the same result.
  • This is a public school, and we welcome children with disabilities. Children with severe learning or behavioral disabilities will have an intervention plan and, if necessary, may be redirected to a more appropriate resource. For example, an autistic child may be integrated into our classes, but if the case is too severe, they will be sent to a special class.
