The benefits of being Zen at work
Being Zen is synonymous with calmness, assurance, confidence, satisfaction, security and contentment .
Tell me, do the times when you were most productive, creative, and successful correspond with times when you were zen? For example, on vacation you realize that waking up early is no longer as difficult. Or you find a solution to a problem that's been lingering at work for months when you return from vacation.
Being Zen improves concentration, creativity, and alertness. You are able to make decisions faster and minimize mistakes.
The importance of staying hydrated at work
The human brain is made up of 75% water. There is a link between adequate hydration and concentration at work. Dehydration can increase or cause fatigue and decrease concentration.
We've often heard about the importance of drinking water when working outside on hot summer days, but did you know that air conditioning can cause dehydration?
In fact, air conditioning reduces the humidity in the air we breathe by 50 to 70%. It's a bit like breathing dry desert air. Furthermore, our lungs are made up of 78% water.
The best way to determine if you're properly hydrated is to check the color of your urine. Light-colored urine is a sign of adequate hydration. Dark urine indicates a water deficiency. To avoid constantly having to take bathroom breaks, drink small sips regularly.
Here are some recipes that will make you want to fill your bottle all day long:
The refreshing
Mint leaves + cucumber + H2O (very pleasant on a hot summer day)
The Cellar
Cinnamon stick + cardamom + piece of ginger + H2O (Subtle but oh so comforting taste)
The tonic drink
Lime slices + Lemon slices + Orange slices + water (the natural sugar in the orange sweetens this drink) Ahhhh!
To your water bottles!
