Crohn's disease

Maladie de Crohn
For Crohn's disease it is very important to:

Reduce and eliminate hyper-allergenic and acidic foods:

gluten, soy, dairy, white sugar, peanuts, additives, white vinegar, etc.

Integrate foods with nutrients in an assimilable form:

  • bone broths
  • cooked vegetables served with fat (organic cow/goat butter, clarified butter, linseed oil, olive oil, avocado)
  • green leaves: kale, collards, arugula, watercress, Swiss chard
  • roots : sweet potato, Jerusalem artichoke, beetroot, carrots
  • cruciferous vegetables : cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, turnip
  • eggs: boiled, poached, sunny side up
  • hormone-free and antibiotic-free meat/poultry (on all lamb, rabbit, turkey: full of nutrients!)
*** Very important to serve the meat with 1/2 C lacto-fermented vegetables
  • cold water fish: sardines, salmon, mackerel, cod
  • green juices and smoothies (celery, apple, cucumber, avocado, ginger, turmeric etc: Jacynthe's book and lots of good ideas!)
  • seaweed: kombu, nori, arame, wakame
  • Favor pseudo-grains: buckwheat, quinoa, millet, amaranth instead of cereals (wheat, spelt, kamut, rice, corn)
We need to support the intestinal flora with:
  • Dairy-fermented foods: 1/2 cup with each meal
  • sauerkraut
  • kefir (milk, water)
  • miso
  • Aloe vera juice supports stomach walls: mix with apple juice :)
In general: half of our plate should be vegetables and the other half:
  • meat/poultry
OR
  • gluten-free cereals
OR
  • legumes (It is very possible that your son does not tolerate legumes)
Good water filtration system : ceramic or coconut activated carbon

As you can see, there are several things to integrate and adjust. To create lasting changes, I suggest you take the time to work with me or another holistic nutritionist to create a personalized plan for you and your family.

If you would like more help, we would be happy to work with you and your son to create an accessible menu that allows for smooth and gradual integration of recommendations.
I have a lot of personal experience with digestive and intestinal diseases.
Warmly,
Danielle Denichaud RHN
