This morning, I was discussing this here with Chantal and her daughter Emma , for whom removing synthetic fragrances from their environment - from household products to makeup - has changed their lives.
"Since birth, Emma has had very fragile skin. She can't use just any soap or cream. She also can't tolerate any fragrance. Of my three children, she's the most fragile."
In 2017, thanks to a live broadcast, I discovered the word fragrance, which changed my life and that of my children. My children were always sick, 3 chronic asthmatics. Almost every week, I had a child in the hospital. We consulted several specialists in 2 different provinces. However, no specialist was able to find the exact cause of the attacks (animals, dust, allergies, etc.).
With the explanations from the live stream and some research, I began removing all fragrances from our home. When I started checking my products: household, beauty, cat litter, and even baby soap, which I thought was the best for my children, contained them. Just a few days later, my children were doing better. In the months that followed, almost no more emergency room visits, only positive ones. So, since 2017, I've been monitoring every product that enters my home.
Makeup is also full of chemicals, not just fragrance. My daughter, who is a competitive dancer, has to wear makeup quite often, more often than little girls her age. She needs makeup that stays put and lasts. Emma, 10, started with the old makeup collection. However, slowly, not quickly, I'm buying her the new ones because they're so cool - we have no choice! - Emma and Chantal
