We're surrounded by toxins all around us. But during pregnancy, we want to pay special attention to them so we can avoid anything harmful to both the baby and us.
Our first priority should be food. The amount of pesticides that end up on food, even those that are certified GMO-free, is simply incredible. And all these pesticides weaken our microbiota. It affects our entire system. The only way to avoid this is organic food. It really needs to become a "must" in our lives. And yes, it's often more expensive, and some will say they don't have the budget for it, but even if we replace only 20% of our diet with organic food, that's already 20% fewer toxins in our bodies.
Our second priority should be plastic, or rather, the absence of plastic. As soon as a plastic container is heated or frozen, its composition migrates into the food it contains, so we consume it. So we want to prioritize glass. Thermos containers.
Next, we prioritize makeup, what we put on our skin. The amount of chemicals in makeup and facial products is phenomenal. And our skin is like a second mouth, so everything we put on it ends up in our body.
The same goes for what we put in our homes. Odors. Those synthetic scent capsules to put in electrical outlets, those air fresheners for carpets, sofas, and curtains. And of course, all the cleaners. All of these contain a lot of toxic components.
And finally, stress! Dr. Caroline Ménard conducted a study showing that stress weakens us and makes us more prone to depression. If parents are stressed, their children will be too, because they are a mirror of what they observe. And if we add to that pollution, waves, Wi-Fi, and pesticides... It's up to us to change our environment for the good of the unborn baby, but also for ourselves.
