I want to tell you how wonderful I find the parent-child-sibling support at kindergarten. I so wanted to follow my big brother in elementary school right into his classroom. Packing my bag like him and playing at being a big girl, isn't that how we learn? Inspired by our older siblings or even by showing the younger ones!
We arrive in Charles's multi-age class (3-4-5-6th grades all mixed together) and two friends directly help Jonathan take off his coat. I am charmed. He takes a seat next to his big brother and bustles about, as Charles, 2, did, often with a lot of noise, while Louis was 7 and also appreciated having his mother near him. As reassuring for the parent as for the child, in fact, to be able to witness friendships as much as academic progress. And even just to be there, next to them, present, together, a hand on the shoulder and hugs at all times. Extending the story we experience at home during early childhood to school. We can't wait for families in primary schools, so that adults can accompany children who need it and children learn to look after the little ones, even perfecting their math or French, for example, by reading them a story.
And this natural entry of the baby who has become young and wants to follow his big brother to class and who, when the time comes for kindergarten, will find himself in a familiar place, surrounded by a large family developed in the years before.
