Declutter

Désencombrer

"I'd like to offer you a day, to help you purify and simplify your life!" my friend Marie-Claude Savard told me.

What generosity! What a gift!

"Can I offer you a day of my time too?"

"No, it's clean at my place, learn to accept it!"

Yes, I accept (which I couldn't do before), I need it and want it so much! What a great idea to help each other. The activity then becomes fun! And our friends (or family) see things that we don't see in addition to giving the necessary boost!

So, I invited my friend Sophie (Minibulles) to this day, who had her plan of attack (discover her guide by clicking here). Marie-Claude directly removed everything that furnished the "tops" of walls, cupboards (ahhhhhhhh!!!! it's good for the eye and the mind!) before tackling the insides of my cupboards!

“Opening a wardrobe should be a pleasure” Dominique Loreau, The Art of Simplicity.

What I liked about my friends is that they organized me! Grouping my objects by sphere of activity. I hadn't thought of that. For example, I read and work (for jmagazine, like right now!) in a certain corner: we gather my inspirations and tools in the same place! Both practical and soothing.

They also helped me to give: "Can this be more useful to someone else?" Thank you Marie-Claude!

It's time to give, leading up to Christmas. Take care of your gifts and your spirit at the same time! Since that day, I've been taking out objects and clothes from my house almost every day.

Since I love scouring fairs, flea markets, and auctions to find beautiful dishes to display my recipes (for my books and jmagazine!), we agreed that a cupboard would become as beautiful as a shop and that I would apply a rotation, I would circulate what comes in and goes out of the house. We can do the same with our decorations.

I continue to read Dominique Loreau who inspires me like no other to clean up my environment "we are our home". Each of her ideas challenges me and makes me take action: recently I was reading, do not keep faded flowers which "siphon" good energy; also be careful of stagnant fridge dishes for more than 3 days, rotten fruits/vegetables, waste near water (a great source of energy not to be placed near our storage rooms, logic that can even be explained scientifically)... Noises (ringing, squeaking...) attack us without us realizing it. Do not buy objects that are not up to what we desire (we get used to what we do not like, philosophically, it is very strong!!!).

"Architects and ethnologists agree that it is the home that shapes an individual's spirit and that a person depends on the place where he lives." Our space should recharge us, not be a burden. Clutter comes from clog, meaning "clot." Disorder blocks the flow of a home. Everything should be tidy.

Every day, little by little, but always with the reflex of going out and not coming in, I free myself to make room for life.

Thank you, Marie-Claude. Since you came by, I have corners for my dreams and drawers for creations, just as I've always wanted. And for the rest to be cleared out, there is hope! You'll see it the next time you come!
