Rheumatoid arthritis
An inflammatory disease that primarily affects the hands, feet, and synovial joints (hips, knees) and causes systemic symptoms including fatigue and fever. Often, there is inflammation in organ tissues (heart, lungs, skin) and "rheumatoid" factors present in the blood.
The cause remains unknown, however there are several theories regarding its etiology: genetic links, environmental factors (more incidences in the city than in the countryside), hormonal imbalances, infection, bacteria and intestinal hyperpermeability or "leaky gut".
SYMPTOMS
Pain and inflammation in multiple joints, weight loss, fatigue, and stiffness in the morning that lasts more than an hour. Symptoms can appear quickly and last a few days or weeks, or more slowly and last for months.
This disease is more common in women aged 30-50 and in men aged 50-70.
