Celery Juice - Here are the ingredients that make it up:

Celery

Celery has many potential health benefits. Celery juice is low in sugar and contains potassium and vitamins A, C, and K. Research suggests that certain phytochemicals extracted from celery (caffeic acid, ferric acid, tannin, and saponin) have demonstrated properties:

  • Anti-inflammatory 1,2

  • Antibacterial 2

  • Lowering blood sugar and serum lipid levels 2

  • Antioxidant 3

Antioxidants can help protect cells from molecules called free radicals, which play a role in heart disease, cancer and the aging process.

Lemon

Lemon, like many citrus fruits, is known to contain bioactive compounds such as phenolic compounds, flavonoids, vitamins (among the main ones, vitamin C (ascorbic acid)), which are thought to be responsible for a whole series of protective health benefits, among its activities: 1,2

  • Antioxidant
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antitumor
  • Antimicrobial
  • Antifungal
  • Protect cells from damage
  • Produce collagen for the skin
  • Absorb iron and support the immune system
  • Lower blood pressure.

A study found that hesperidin (flavonoids), a natural compound found in citrus fruits, such as lemon, had a better balance of bone metabolism on bone health. 3

Another study shows that hesperidin can lower blood sugar levels, thus reducing the risk of diabetes. Additionally, the citric acid in lemon slows the conversion of starch to sugar, helping reduce blood sugar spikes and manage weight. 4

Apple

Apples contain vitamin A, vitamin E, niacin, folic acid, pantothenic acid, choline, betaine, calcium, iron, magnesium and phosphorus.

Apple juice also contains a significant amount of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), an essential antioxidant that protects against oxidative stress, inflammation, and strengthens the body's immune system. In fact, one review suggests that, in 20 studies, apple juice consumed in moderation had positive effects on cardiovascular disease risk markers (particularly oxidative stress). 1

A trend toward lower triglyceride levels was also observed in those who consumed polyphenol-rich juice. 1,2

Polyphenols may also reduce oxidative cell damage in the intestine, 3,4 and may have both protective and therapeutic effects in the management of inflammatory bowel diseases. 5

Another study concluded that consuming foods rich in antioxidants such as apples can prevent the decline in cognitive performance that accompanies dietary and genetic deficiencies and aging. 6
