Basically, the smoothie is blended in a blender; the juice is extracted in a juicer!
The smoothie retains fiber, which is good for your health, but it needs to be digested! It will therefore sustain us, and can even serve as a meal or at the very least, a good snack!
Juice provides our body with the vitamins, nutrients, and minerals it needs directly and easily. Juices are said to be the fountain of youth.
We can easily meet our essential nutrient needs because, for example, we juice 4 pounds of raw vegetables for a 500 ml bottle of juice... it's hard to get that much any other way! Juices fill us with good doses of valuable vitamins and minerals. Few meals can boast that much.
Caution: Green juice isn't for everyone. Diabetics, for example, are better off with a smoothie (because we want the glucose to circulate slowly in their blood, which isn't the case with juice, which is absorbed in about 10 minutes). If you're intoxicated, green juice—very detox—can make you dizzy; don't drink it on an empty stomach and start slowly. It's also recommended to drink it with a fat (I like to add a spoonful of pumpkin seed oil!).
Moreover, it is worth giving green juices its stars, a wonderful health insurance (to prevent osteoporosis or strengthen the immune system, for example).
Chlorophyll is uncannily similar to our blood, taking it in juice form cleanses it and helps eliminate metals from our body; it oxygenates it, alkalizes it, is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant!
I truly believe that the only tool to have in a healthy kitchen is the juice extractor. I've had mine for over 9 years, using it once or twice a day. I have a soft spot for this slow-rotating screw model because it cleans easily (in less than a minute, the secret to making it often) and has been faithful to me for just as long! You can find them on Amazon or recently in supermarkets.

Ah... I'm often asked what I think of the Vitamix, it's wonderful, but not essential, the home blender does the trick! In any case, mine did for years! The turbo second speed of the Vitamix mixes to the point where we no longer feel any texture (skins, fibers, ...) in our smoothie or soup, ideal for children for example, but the recipes from jmagazine can be just as good without it.
