Essential oil properties supported by science

How you will appreciate them! Here they are:

Chai: a drinkable blend based mainly on Cardamom and Pepper, both happy digestive stimulating carminatives.

Aphrodisiac: when I saw this blend proposed by Dr. Willem, one drop per day on a stand, I jumped at the idea of tasting Ylang Ylang, the flower of flowers, and I was delighted, for good reason! Combined with Cinnamon and Ginger - a joy to be repeated to marvel at.

Tête tranquille: already peppermint, famous for relieving headaches, served with lavender & basil, a pleasure to roll at the temples!

Solution Sécheresse: also a formula to roll on dry patches with, among others, myrrh and geranium on rose.

Some properties of the essential oils contained in these formulas:

Basil

Used in aromatherapy for centuries to work quickly for a natural relief of headaches and migraines.1

Rosewood

Linalool was the main component of the essential oil of A. rosaeodora (Rosewood) which gives it antifungal properties2 as well as an anti-inflammatory action on the skin.3

Cinnamon

Tonic, stimulant, analgesic, spasmolytic, antiseptic, preservative, broad-spectrum anti-infective and warming.  Cinnamon essential oil has been shown to produce spectacular results against one of the main bacteria responsible for bad breath.4

Cardamom

It is also valued for its many virtues: carminative, digestive tonic, decongestant of the respiratory tract, expectorant, antispasmodic, vermifuge, anti-infectious, antibacterial, general stimulant. A study has provided evidence that extracts of cardamom fruits and seeds by their antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties may be therapeutic agents of interest against periodontal infections. 5

Lemon

This remarkable antiseptic oil has many roles, including helping digestion and tired livers.6

Rose Geranium

Geranium essential oil also has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial7 activity that is beneficial to healing and balancing the skin.  It has been observed, for example, that it contributes to the increase of collagen deposition in the skin and improves wound closure. This oil contains geraniol which has anti-elastase and anti-keratinase activity. 8

Ginger

Ginger has a powerful antioxidant activity thanks to the gingerols it contains. It is also known to facilitate digestion and calm nausea.9

Noble Laurel

This essential oil is an essential in aromatherapy to be favored for its numerous benefits. It is both antibacterial and antifungal, and especially very well tolerated by the skin. It can effectively relieve people with joint pain, it provides respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular and skin benefits. It is also a soothing, balancing and toning oil. Several studies have reported antimicrobial and antioxidant properties by extracting bay leaves, including this one conducted in Spain. 10

Lavender

Very versatile thanks to its various properties: painkiller, antispasmodic, regenerative and skin healing, muscle relaxant, anti-inflammatory, anticatarrhal, expectorant. On the well-being side, the linalool contained in lavender is a natural sedative, also known to relieve anxiety.11

Peppermint

There are many studies on this essential oil; for example, regarding its effectiveness for headaches and migraine, a study published in 2019 in the International Journal of Preventive Medicine compared the effects of intranasal lidocaine and peppermint essential oil on migraine episodes. The result: nasal application of peppermint essential oil resulted in a decrease in headache intensity and frequency and provided relief to most patients similar to lidocaine. 12

Myrrh

A 2010 study found that topical application of myrrh oil helped raise white blood cells around skin wounds, resulting in faster healing. 13

Black pepper

This oil has a spicy aroma that adds a much-appreciated spice to cooking. Among its highly valued virtues: it is a tonic, digestive and general stimulant.14

Ylang Ylang

Ylang Ylang is a real seductress and has several properties, including being calming and relaxing. Two published studies give it anxiolytic properties. 15,16 It is reported that inhaling ylang-ylang would reduce the level of stress and anxiety.
