What it is?
These are authentic Italian tomatoes, whole but peeled, from the Sarnese Nocerino region near Naples. They grow in volcanic soil and ripen under the Mediterranean sun. San Marzano tomatoes have a DOP (Protected Designation of Origin), which means they are certified as having the unique characteristics of this variety: elongated shape, bright red color, easy-to-peel skin and sweet-and-sour taste. San Marzano tomatoes are widely used by pizzaioli to create the most delicious and authentic Neapolitan pizzas. A tomato cane also adopted by Sarah-Jessica Parker, as seen here.
