Marine microalgae
Microalgae contain bioactive components (pigments, proteins, essential fatty acids, polysaccharides, vitamins and minerals) and can be incorporated into cosmetic and cosmeceutical formulations, helping to achieve benefits such as maintaining skin structure and function. 1,2
Porphyridium cruentum extract
Porphyridium cruentum is a unicellular microalga that takes the form of tiny red pearls/pinks invisible to the naked eye. It is one of the microalgae with antioxidant capacity, revealing its potential for use in the cosmetics industry. 3
Phaeodactylum tricornutum extract
Used as a versatile and highly effective antioxidant and as a skin-conditioning agent in cosmetic products. This microalgae is known for its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to reduce inflammation. 4 The extract contains high levels of phycoerythrin, sulfated polysaccharides, arachidonic acid, tocopherol and carotenoids.

Snow mushrooms (Tremella fuciformis)
Tremella fuciformis has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine for its remarkable medicinal properties. Studies have demonstrated the role this extract can play in skin anti-aging, photoprotection and wound healing. 1
Tremella mushrooms are frequently used in cosmetics for their anti-aging and moisturizing properties. According to some data, its polysaccharides help retain moisture and reduce collagen loss; other research has shown that polysaccharides can reduce skin damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) rays. 2
Polysaccharide isolated from a hot-water extract of a fungus of the genus Tremella has been shown to inhibit melanin formation and lighten spots when applied to the skin. 3
According to this other study, its potential as a new skin-lightening agent has been validated, as has its efficacy in halting melanogenesis and promoting wound healing in vitro. 4
What's more, Tremella polysaccharide has shown good moisturizing effects, as in another study it was demonstrated that cosmetic products containing 0.05% Tremella polysaccharide had better moisturizing capacity than those containing 0.02% hyaluronic acid. 5

Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is present in our body tissues and fluids, but is naturally depleted with age. The skin is the most important reservoir, containing around half of the body's hyaluronic acid.1,2
- It helps maintain tissue hydration.3
- It has been used for many years to help skin regain elasticity and moisture. A study (including 76 women aged 30 to 60 with clinical signs of periocular wrinkles) of topical application of 0.1% hyaluronic acid formulations (application of one of the formulations twice a day to the targeted area for 60 days) led to a significant improvement in skin hydration, turgidity and elasticity. 4
